Welcome back to another run-down of MMOs and other online games you’ve probably never heard of. We love doing these! Here’s some stuff to keep an eye on… Tales of Wind is one of the many games up and coming in NCsoft’s mobile MMO stable, and this one’s definitely going for the “loves adorable things” demographic. Studio Neocraft – headed up by a Blizzard China founder – announced a global launch for the game in April on both Android and iOS. “Tales of Wind takes place on Arlesdore, a fantasy continent where demons appeared thousands of years ago. Several of these demons, known as Calamity Lieges, were considered to be the most terrible of all. It’s up to the player to discover the truth behind their appearance in order to bring light back to the world.” Era of Legends is also a mobile MMO, but given the graphical quality of mobile MMOs lately and the provenance of this one, maybe don’t dismiss it outright. … [Read more...] about MMOs You’ve Never Heard of: Tales of Wind, Era of Legends, and Darksburg
The other day I was driving through my neighborhood and I happened to look at a cross-street that read WESTFALL. And, being the former World of Warcraft player that I am, I immediately thought of the famous early level zone and how weird it was to see something in the real world that reminded me of it. But that happens, from time to time. We overhear two people talking about MMO faction rivalries, see something that reminds us of an in-game vista, or otherwise experience the bizarre jolt when our gaming lives and real lives intersect. Today, I would love to hear these strange and fun little cross-overs between MMOs and your real life. When have you had games bleed over into meat space? Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind! … [Read more...] about The Daily Grind: When have you bumped into MMOs in real life?
Daybreak’s upcoming spinoff Planetside Arena is changing course. Somewhat. In an announcement posted on the official website this week, Daybreak thanked its closed beta testers for their invaluable feedback, and announced that after much consideration the PC-only release will be postponed. The good news is that this delay is to make way for the Playstation 4 version which will launch alongside the PC version this summer. Unfortunately this does mean that the founders beta will be cancelled and all buyers of Planetside Arena on Steam are being refunded their purchases. The beta program will be extended ahead of launch later this year. Source: Planetside Arena Advertisements … [Read more...] about Daybreak Alters Planetside Arena Launch Plans, Hitting Playstation 4

Lineage II Classic’s first major update will be deployed on February 27th. The update will bring challenging “multiple raid boss experiences” in the Tower of Insolence in addition with four new Hunting Grounds. Players will have to prepare for the hardcore action by “powering up heroes with a 3rd Class Transfer” and the ability to modify weapons using the new Rune System. Four new hunting grounds are opening for you to discover new foes and new treasures in these new avenues of adventure. For warriors level 72-75, the Silent Valley is a prime spot for small parties and solo fighters to sharpen their battle skills. If you seek adventure on the cursed Devil’s Isle, be sure that you are level 70-75, as this underwater island is also home to the dreaded Captain Zaken. If you’re able to ascertain the location of one of its four entrances, you may find your way into the Giant’s Cave, an ancient hunting zone for warriors who are level 76-78. … [Read more...] about Lineage II Classic: First Major Update To Be Deployed Soon
