ArtCraft Entertainment, the studio developing the PC massively multiplayer online role-playing game Crowfall, announced today that it will begin licensing its MMO-making engine and tools. ArtCraft is calling the new stack of technology the Artisan Engine. The Artisan Engine will help developers create large MMO worlds. It will offer tools for RPG staples like characters, inventory, equipment, monsters, AI, harvesting, races, classes, subclasses, powers, banking, secure trading, skills, and leveling. ArtCraft believes that using these tools can save studios time (two to three years) and millions of dollars ($10 million) when creating their own MMOs. https://venturebeat.com/2018/07/10/crowfall-studio-artcraft-will-license-its-mmo-making-tool-artisan-engine/ … [Read more...] about Crowfall studio ArtCraft will license its MMO-making tool Artisan Engine
The licensing of the game’s MMO engine includes “ALL of the backend tech that makes an MMO work: accounts, persistence, characters, items, inventory & equipment, monsters, AI, powers, races, classes, zones… all of the hundreds (thousands?) of interlocking systems that make a virtual world tick.” As a result of the licensing agreement, Art Craft has taken in more resources and will be hiring more engineers. The Gloria Victis team has sent word that aspiring chefs may want to check back into the game thanks to the addition of the cooking system. There are tons of meals and recipes that can provide boons to those partaking. Guilds bringing along a field cook are wise as the food both provides strength and a blessing. What else does today’s update bring? 4 new locations to capture, 16 new quests per nation, updated placement of several locations and numerous tweaks and fixes. We’re also getting close to introduce the farming system soon. https://crowfall.com/en/news/articles/founders-update-mid-year-check-point-2018/ Hey, folks! Wow, we can’t believe that we are already halfway through 2018! This year has been filled with solid momentum, and every now and then it’s good to pause to see how far we’ve come. We started the year with a fresh-raised investment round totaling $6 million. These funds put us in a great position to finish the game, add some content that we wanted (but really couldn’t afford), and give us some money for marketing after the game launches. In addition, we’ve seen forward progress on a few other fronts – which we’ll discuss in more detail in the coming months. This includes… RUSSIAN DISTRIBUTION Similar in many ways to our deal with Travian Games in Europe, this company (to be revealed later in an official announcement) will provide assistance with territorial operations, server hosting, billing and localization. We’re always excited to reach … [Read more...] about Crowfall “soft launch” pushed back to 2019 ALPHA coming end of summer ETA updates
