I've been meaning to write this post for a long while, but I had trouble putting it into words. Fortunately, Steam's discovery queue came to my rescue, and provided me with a picture worth a thousand words:am I seeing? This is why I'm here on Fractured forums instead of supporting other crowd-funded MMOs with higher profiles or bigger fanbases. This is why I'm not playing venerable World of Warcraft, critically-acclaimed Guild Wars 2, or ever-popular Final Fantasy XIV. This why I hate 99% of MMOs. So what's upsetting me so much? Take a guess, I'll wait. ... ... ... It's the mobs. And it gets worse in ways that the picture did not capture. They will live only on fields filled with exact copies of them and nothing else; or in mixed groups, surrounded by exact copies of their group and nothing else. They will wander eternally, exactly three steps at a time, inside a 2-meter circle. They will chase you for whole 4 meters before giving up or suddenly vanishing. They will come into … [Read more...] about Pinatas, catatonia, and Montgomery Scott (or what matters the most to me in MMOs)
Would be cool to have game lore about origins of gods, previous civilisation and events that led to Fracture. It could be mythology driven, like all gods were in unity overseeing the previous world, and then the classic betrayal.. Or it can be technology/society driven, some off-the-rails warring faction unleashed some tech with minor involvement from gods. And now the gods divided remaining celestial bodies between each other and heavily influenced evolution. Original civilisation was very much human-like. Lore can be in form of relics, artefacts, places of knowledge, found in ruins and caves you have to explore. Would also be cool to have visual manifestations of remnants of the previous world: cave drawings, skyscaper in the middle of a forest, bridge that used to be a tower. An example of recovered technology is stargates. Each piece of gained lore may be out of order but independent/general enough we can enjoy the story out of sequences, like diary entries. Each increasing our … [Read more...] about Weave Fracture cataclysm, Elysium lore into exploration
What’s good about Fractured is it caters to most players via different worlds: PVP fanatics, skillers, and raiders. You could say it’s almost like 3 different MMOs in 1. Demon planet – nonstop chaotic PVP Human planet – mostly guild wars with some PVE Beast planet – mostly PVE with occasional PVP annoyance (majority of players) Seraph planet – PVE only, no open PVP, but with PVP instanced minigames Planet background. Planet features: full open PVP ban. No caravan raiding. Accepted duels are allowed. all races may freely travel to and from 4th planet at any time. NPC controlled settlements and banking systems. extremely high variety of endgame raids, dungeons, and bosses. event: frequent wildlife assaults on civilization. weather heavily impacts activity, sometimes being so extreme that inhabitants have to hide, sometimes giving boosts. instanced PVP arenas, castle wars. PVE minigames. … [Read more...] about 4th planet of angelics: harsh PVE, banned PVP.
I'm obviously unsure whether or not it is a thing already, but I notice a big thing in good action style combat systems is the use of animation cancelling through combos and chaining up abilities, like weaving spells together without casting times. I feel this mechanic is often rewarding for players as it shows abundance of practice, and mastery, and creates a much more fluent and smooth fighting experience There's a lot of abilities being put into place for this game, but could it be possible to create this sort of thing? … [Read more...] about Will Animation Cancelling become a combat mechanic one day?
I've watched all the Q&A and there was something that I flagged as a potential deal-breaker for some players, and that is - your stored items are not safe. your house chest is the only storage for your materials/gear. town house will be lost if governor kicks you out or another group overtakes. wilderness house will be lost when it decays/when carpenter NPC runs out of payment. This is very discouraging if I spend days/months crafting items and their storage-wise safety is not guaranteed. Game requires you to be active almost daily to protect your gear, 24 hours being the minimum (exile by governor alert). I really would like to see some kind of permanent banking/storage system run by NPCs. Runescape system comes to mind. I haven't logged in (because of combat"revolution" and it's not an adult-friendly mmo) for a decade but I know all my santa hats are safe, and that storage safety is free. What do you think. … [Read more...] about Runescape-like safe bank/storage.
