Nexon announced today that closed beta 2 for MapleStory 2 will begin on July 18th and run until August 1st. Players can gain access to this round of beta testing by signing up on the game's official site, winning a giveaway on the official @PlayMaple2 twitter account, or getting a key from Razer (official giveaway partner). CBT2 will be open to twice as many players as the first beta, so if you didn't get a chance to play last time, your odds of getting in are twice as good this time around. CBT2 will feature a new battle royale mode called 'Mushking Royale!' on July 20 - July 22 where up to 50 players battle it out to be the last man standing. This latest round of beta testing will also include a new high end dungeon and a bunch of other new features. To keep players in the loop, Nexon is launching a new 'Producers Blog' which discuss upcoming features and news. Bless launched update 22.214.171.124 yesterday and today they released a producer letter outlining their launch plans for the MMORPG. They're aiming to consolidate servers (merge) sometime in July before official launch. Neowiz is aiming to have 2 NA servers (Kaios and Hilan) and 2 EU servers (Bacillas and Iriaphos), but promises to launch additional servers if necessary after launch, though that shouldn't be necessary with the use of Amazon Cloud Services as Neowiz explained. Full Producer Letter: Greetings! In today’s letter we are going to mainly talk about servers; first about the stability issues that we encountered during the start of Bless Online’s Early Access, and second about the upcoming server consolidation. Server Stability During the Start of Early Access When preparing to launch Bless in Early Access on Steam, we decided to use AWS for our servers based on our previous experience using it for 5+ years. We automated infrastructure configuration and server extensions, … [Read more...] about Bless Online Releases Producer Letter: Early Access Ending Soon, Server Mergers Incoming
Blizzard Entertainment put up a job posting recently for a Dungeon Artist for an "unannounced project" within the Diablo universe. We Need You The minions of Hell are growing stronger... We're working on a new, unannounced Diablo project. Are you a skilled Dungeon Artist? Come work with us, and together we will build something exceptional. Our team of talented developers is growing. Our backgrounds are diverse, but we all share a real passion for what we do. We believe that if you’re looking for a tight-knit crew that celebrates self-expression and embraces collaboration, we might be a phenomenal fit for you. No word on what the project is at the moment. It could be new DLC for Diablo 3 or perhaps even a new Diablo game all together. Could it be Diablo 4? Diablo 3 DLC? A mobile Diablo game? Who knows. My money is on new DLC for Diablo 3 though, as the game hasn't seen a big update since the Rise of the Necromancer DLC which launched around this time last year. Given that Path of … [Read more...] about Blizzard Job Posting Confirms “Unannounced Diablo Project”
Bless Online. Since the game was first announced in 2016, the game’s development has been fraught with delays until finally, the game’s western publisher Aeria / Gamigo decided to call it quits and back out. Fortunately, Neowiz decided to step in and publish the game themselves which brings us to this highly-awaited and long overdue day. “It has been an incredibly long journey for all of us making Bless,” Sungjin Ko, Executive Producer of Neowiz Bless Studio. “Bless has always been a labor of love, and with the Steam version of our game, we think we’ve created the best possible Bless Online experience for players. But today is only the beginning. We have loads of new content in the works, including new classes, new dungeons, new PVP scenarios, and more. We cannot wait to show you all everything there is to this massive fantasy world.” Bless Online’s two-day head start has begun and servers are now open to Founder’s Pack owners. The Pantheon devs tweeted again asking another great question. This time they're eliciting responses about what's the most important part of a community. And again, the responses are across the board with respect to how people are interpreting the question. Some of the answers in reply to the tweet are things like: Welcoming to newcomers Open-mindedness A lack of elitism GM sponsored events Communication with the devs All good answers, and there are plenty more. I think the most important part of a MMORPG community has to be 'a reason for one to exist' and equally important are the in-game tools and mechanics to encourage community interactions. If people don't have to get to know each other, they won't. If players don't have to play together, they won't. (Note: That doesn't mean grouping only. I can feel like I'm playing with other people even when I solo.) If the MMORPG doesn't have in-game mechanics to bring players to together, then they'll drift apart. Community is … [Read more...] about What is the Most Important Part of a MMORPG Community?
