The Pantheon devs tweeted again asking another great question. This time they're eliciting responses about what's the most important part of a community. And again, the responses are across the board with respect to how people are interpreting the question. Some of the answers in reply to the tweet are things like: Welcoming to newcomers Open-mindedness A lack of elitism GM sponsored events Communication with the devs All good answers, and there are plenty more. I think the most important part of a MMORPG community has to be 'a reason for one to exist' and equally important are the in-game tools and mechanics to encourage community interactions. If people don't have to get to know each other, they won't. If players don't have to play together, they won't. (Note: That doesn't mean grouping only. I can feel like I'm playing with other people even when I solo.) If the MMORPG doesn't have in-game mechanics to bring players to together, then they'll drift apart. Community is … [Read more...] about What is the Most Important Part of a MMORPG Community?
The free to play anime action MMORPG Soulworker introduced its 5th playable character today Jin Seipatsu, which is a fist weapon user. Jin belongs to the Fistfighter class among the SoulWorkers — a group of warriors with emotions so strong that they’re able to manifest them into powerful weapons. Jin’s particular emotional power is Integrity, which bestows upon him unique attributes such as the highest base hit points and area of effect damage among all other characters, as well as his own set of specialized attacks. Besides the new playable class, the game also introduced a new raid titled The Golden Citadel which is composed of 5 thematic rooms. Players can access to the new raid by first completing all previous casual raids and then speaking to IO in Ruin Fortress. Soulworker has been a big hit for Gameforge so far, averaging over 3,700 or so players online at once, which is significantly more than similar titles (Closers and Kritika come to mind). … [Read more...] about Soulworker Adds New Playable Character and New Citadel Raid
0 I’m starving for an MMO to play. I love PixARK and the myriad of other games I’m playing, but I just can’t go long without a dedicated MMO to log into. That’s a dangerous place for me to be in, believe me. When this happens every 2 years or so, you know the game I go back to and always hate myself over as a result. I dabbled for two weeks on EQ’s Coirnav server. Given recently events over whether or not it’ll be legal for people to do business with them anymore, I don’t feel the greatest amount of security investing any time into the game. If you’re curious what’s going on, some Russian’s assets are frozen and that involves Columbus Nova which is the company someone is going around the internet and deleting any associates to Daybreak. If you’re confused, I think the internet is too. Google it up to learn more. Yeah, maybe I won’t play EQ right now until we see how this shakes out and who else … [Read more...] about I Need a New MMO Before I Make a Big Mistake
0 Yesterday I asked what your favorite MMORPG race was and why, so today I’m going to ask you about MMORPG classes. Instead of asking you to pick just one overall favorite, I’ll let you pick a few classes you think are really cool, unique, or awesome enough in their design/idea that you think of them as a favorite . When you list a class, I want you to explain why and share a little about that class. Many of us may have never tried the classes you think are cool, or even played the games they’re from. Here are a few of my favorites: Animist – Dark Age of Camelot Animists are a pet class around a plant-like affinity. Animists summon turret-like mushroom pets that were a little bit of set-it-and-forget-it. I remember setting up a little forest of mushrooms that did varying things like slow the enemy, aoe, and could act like an awesome trap in PvP. There were also bomb-like pets that would go out and explode. Very satisfying pet class. Druid – … [Read more...] about What’s Your Favorite MMORPG Class?
Here's an easy question for you all, but I hope it has some really cool implications. What's your favorite MMORPG race and why? It can be a current MMORPG you're playing, or one from 20+ years ago. You can pick something as straight forward as 'Human' or obscure as a Wookie. They key is to tell us all WHY you're picking that race to be your absolute favorite MMORPG race of all time. Maybe you like that race because of its special bonus abilities or the starting stats were the best combination for your class. Maybe you simply liked it because it was super unique or just looked really cool. For me, this question caused me to reflect pretty hard. Cosmetically, I love the small races. Gnomes, Lurikeens, Dwarves, Taru Taru, Halflings, Hobbits, Kobolds, you name it. If it's small, I love it. Why? I think it has something to do with their body body proportions and how they usually look so dang cute. But then when I think about lore, I love the Orcs from Warcraft. That story and how it … [Read more...] about What’s Your Favorite MMORPG Race and Why?
