A console version of Crossfire, the world's most popular shooter, is coming to Xbox One in 2020. Titled Crossfire X, the console version is developed by Smilegate, the same studio behind the 2007 original Crossfire. The original PC version of Crossfire still boasts over 8 million concurrent players, over 650 million registered accounts, and its routinely grosses over $1 billion dollars annually. The game's success is largely due to China, but a Western version has been available for several years, but failed to find much of an audience. Inspired by Valve's Counter-Strike, Crossfire quickly branched out to add new game modes such as zombies, vehicle modes, underwater matches, and much more. The sale of skins, new characters, and powerful weapons keeps the money rolling in. No word yet on weather Crossfire X will maintain the original's pay-to-win business model. While Crossfire X will launch first on Xbox, expect a PlayStation release later on. FacebookTwitterReddit Related … [Read more...] about Crossfire X Coming To Consoles In 2020

In looking over my history with MMORPGs this year, one trend leaps out at me: In pretty much every old favorite that I returned to, I started over completely rather than pick up and play old characters. From SWTOR to Star Trek Online to FFXIV, I kept doing this over and over again. Am I troubled? Am I addicted to that “new character” smell? Or is it what I keep telling myself, that to really get invested back into an MMO, I need to experience it from scratch? I’m not sure, but chances are that I’m going to keep doing this and very rarely make it to any max level and endgame. Do you do this? Do you start over when you come back to MMOs rather than pick up and play old characters? If so, why? Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in … [Read more...] about The Daily Grind: Do you start over when you come back to an MMO?
It’s been a long time since we talked about RaiderZ, the titular MMO that despite being shut down in Europe way back in 2013 managed to survive another two years until developer MAIET Entertainment also went bankrupt, forcing Perfect World Entertainment to stop publishing as certain critical bugs could not be fixed. Well, two years later and the game just refuses to stay dead. Over at the RaiderZ Facebook page, a new challenger has arisen to bring RaiderZ back to life. Masangsoft’s announcement acknowledges that RaiderZ is a bit old by MMO standards and needs to be fixed up before it can relaunch. The developer doesn’t have much in the way of timetables, but has asked that we sit tight while they get to work and that more news should be coming soon. We can’t say how much more time we need to reinvent this game. What’s certain is that we’ll try to provide better and better experiences for many people who look forward to this game. Sooner or later, … [Read more...] about RaiderZ Is Coming Back: Masangsoft Takes Over Development
Play LOTRO for freeWho hasn’t used Google maps to check out some interesting patch of Earth? Now who hasn’t wished they could do the same for Middle-earth? Back in the day, a Google map for the lands of Lord of the Rings Online existed on the site MyLotro. Now, Standing Stones Games has given a fan permission to use in-game screens to recreate that project. There’s still some work to be done (border graphics and a few other tweaks and features are still in the works), but you can check out the beta images on the official forums. When finished, folks will be able to access the maps on most mobile devices. Thanks for making Middle-earth on Google maps a thing, Garan! The Witcher is coming to Netflix in 2020 according to producer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich. The news came via Hissrich's Twitter where she also confirmed that the possible release of the series could come as early as 2020. "We're moving quickly ahead with everything. I've finished the pilot, which yes, will be polished more when we cast/shoot. The other 7 episodes don't yet exist, except in my head." 2020. Who knows?! We're moving quickly ahead with everything -- like, my head is spinning around Exorcist-style, except with enthusiasm, not evil possession -- but one thing is certain: quality comes before speed. You'll get it as soon as humanly possible, and it'll be good. — Lauren S. Hissrich (@LHissrich) April 20, 2018 EIGHT EPISODES. Yes! I know, I know, it may not seem like enough for you, but creatively, it's the right call. The episodes can be tight, action-packed, rich in character and story, without lagging in the middle of the season. Sounds good to me, sound … [Read more...] about Netflix Series Producer Confirms 8-Episode Season to Possibly Debut in 2020
