Part 1: How much do the games cost and which extra security against hacked accounts do they offer?Part 2: What can I play (races and classes?)Part 3: What do the games look like?Part 4: What’s there to fight against (PvE)?Part 5: Who’s there to fight (PvP)?Part 6: CraftingPart 7: I want to be on my own sometimes (- or: What can do I solo?)Part 8: Fluff One thing I forgot yesterday is LotRO’s music system. Just a few days ago, Weatherstock took place. I haven’t been there, unfortunately, but here is a video (close to 4 hours long!). If you want to jump right in and play some music, The Fat Lute offers all you need (that is: songs). *** Let’s get to the last part of my comparison: The conclusion. This will be even more biased and subjective than the previous parts. So, if you don’t want to read it, here’s the short version: Whether any of those games is for you is dependent on what you want to get from a game. The easiest would be to start the … [Read more...] about Rift vs. LotRO vs. World of Warcraft – a closer look at all three MMOs (Final part)
7 series vs s class
This is the third post in the blog post series “Guild Wars 2 vs. Rift vs. Trove”. The title may suggest that at the end of this series, I will tell you which games is the best of the best, … But I will not do that! While the purpose of this series is to compare those games to a certain degree, my goal is to give you a thorough overview to help you figure out which game is the best for what you want from a game. Or maybe just to figure out whether those three games are interesting for you at all, independently of each other. If you missed the previous postings, you can find them here:Part 1: Basic informationPart 2: Lore In this part, we will look at the character creation. I previously already covered it in the “Basic information” post, but I felt it deserves more space than that. I know that some people just hit “randomize” and they are done. If you are one of those, you may want to skip this part. ;) Others, like me, can easily spend hours in … [Read more...] about Guild Wars 2 vs. Rift vs. Trove: Part 3 (Character Creation)
Too many colons in the title! During the time Bioware wasn’t busy absorbing every sub-developer of Electronic Arts, the company was busy working away at their first and arguably one of the most risky entrances into the MMO genre. The Old Republic is the labor of love of a company that has never put out an MMO, let alone having not developed a multi-player game since 2002. But with the announcement of The Old Republic, at least we knew that Bioware would be consistent, and that we could expect heavy voice acting, a whole load of plot and subplots, and an incredible soundtrack. I’ve found that The Old Republic is best played as Bioware once referred to it: Knights of the Old Republic 3, but online in a persistent world. The Old Republic is heavily instanced, and while that is for good reasoning, it’s a bit obnoxious when you walk into each city and see a number of buildings that cannot be entered because they are locked by class or by level. However, as it stands, all … [Read more...] about Why Aren’t You Playing: Star Wars: The Old Republic
So all the way back in May of 2017, I made a video titled “The Best Free To Play Anime MMORPGs To Play RIGHT NOW In 2017!”. It has since gone on to gain almost 800,000 views, thousands of comments, and thousands of likes. Over the course of the year my likes and dislikes in terms of MMORPGs have changed quite drastically. I recall listing games like Maplestory, Eden Eternal and Twin Saga as Anime MMORPGs I thoroughly enjoyed, when in reality I believe those games no longer hold any semblance of relevancy. Stix did do a video on upcoming Anime MMORPGs just last month titled “4 Upcoming Anime MMORPGs You Absolutely NEED To Play In 2018 And Beyond!” if you’re interested in a few Anime titles to look forward to as well. Now, regarding what I believe should be listed.. Alright, so starting off at number 10 is Bless Online. Graphically speaking, Bless Online looks great. It does. There’s no denying that. It has giant beautiful open world landscapes, … [Read more...] about The Best Free To Play Anime MMORPGs To Play RIGHT NOW In 2018!
Video games had a huge impact on my childhood and teenage years, imprinting themselves onto my psyche for all of the struggles and elation that they produced. While I did play consoles in my youth, most of my gaming time was spent on the PC, particularly during the 1990s. As such, I have a strong fondness (nostalgia goggles alert!) for older games, to the point where I still play and blog about them. While some definitely have not withstood the test of time, you’d be surprised how many older PC titles are still quite enjoyable and even downright compelling today. I think we all have our lists of game franchises that we wish were made into MMORPGs, and today I’m going to look at 10 of some of my favorite older PC games (most, but not all, from the ’90s) and give a few ideas how each could work as a proper MMO. 1. Deus Ex Still an incredible game to this day, Deus Ex truly delivered on the promise of playing your way, with multiple paths and techniques that could be … [Read more...] about Perfect Ten: Older PC games that would make for great MMOs
