Today we’re continuing our countdown of Massively OP’s weirdest MMORPG stories of 2018! Coming in at #2 on our list is… Occupy White Walls was announced right around April Fools’ Day, so you could be forgiven for having thought it was a joke, but nope: It’s a real live MMORPG (and in fact, it just hit early access). “To say it’s a PC sandbox-building, AI-driven MMO where people play with Art, developed by people who really love architecture and abstract characters… would be a bit of a mouthful. We could have named it ‘World of curation craft’, or ‘Clash of artistically and architecturally curious people’ but we chose Occupy White Walls.” My dudes, I aced art history and I still don’t feel adequately prepared to play this MMO. Intimidating? Yes. Creative? Wildly. Unique? You bet. Super weird? Duh, else it’d not be on this list! Stay tuned tomorrow for our last entry in the countdown, and … [Read more...] about Massively OP’s Weirdest MMORPG Stories of 2018: World of Curationcraft

Today we’re continuing our countdown of Massively OP’s weirdest MMORPG stories of 2018! Coming in at #3 on our list is… An interview with the big griffon statue So one of ArenaNet’s Guild Wars 2 convention things this year has been bringing a big statue and setting it up for people to climb up on and snap selfies. At PAX East, it was a giant effigy of a griffon – you know, like the kind you can ride thanks to the Path of Fire endgame. Naturally, Eliot took the opportunity to interview “Feathers,” and it isn’t just Eliot being silly; he used the mock interview as a vehicle for criticizing the con’s design. “Let me tell you something, snackbag,” Feathers said, not even bothering to disguise how much he wanted to eat the humans posing on his back. “I’ve done a lot of various conventions over the years; the tabletop gaming boom in the ’70s was really good to me. And I must say that this is actually one of … [Read more...] about Massively OP’s Weirdest MMORPG Stories of 2018: We interviewed a what?
Today we’re continuing our countdown of Massively OP’s weirdest MMORPG stories of 2018! Coming in at #4 on our list is… The Aegis Vulcan is actually the first Star Citizen concept ship that truly got my interest back in February. As I put it, I love that junky retro ’80s plastic, all-function-no-form, been-there-done-that-got-the-hull-scars tramp freighter look. The best part was the commenters who then proceeded to debate how unpretty this pixel ship it really was. Of course, there’s no freakin’ way I’d pay $185 for a video spaceship, no matter how ugly-cute it is. Fam, that’s wild and I’ll say so. But here’s to the ugliest spaceship that we loved in 2018. Stay tuned tomorrow for another entry in the countdown, and don’t forget to check out our annual MMO awards and our blooper awards while you’re at it! … [Read more...] about Massively OP’s Weirdest MMORPG Stories of 2018: A spaceship so ugly it’s cute
Tad Williams, the author of the original Otherland quadrology, has written a new novella in that world. What does this mean for players of Otherland? Well, part of the novella will be available in the game. Obviously, the entire thing can’t be present there, but some of it is; the official post on the matter explains that it’s a bit like the short story which would eventually grow into the novella. And yes, that means it’s a new story about the game world in the actual game world. But there are going to be fans of the books who aren’t necessarily interested in playing the game, and thus the developers are planning to introduce a new “Social” character type to the game. These characters have no combat abilities or progress, but can bypass all of the usual starting zones to simply start the treasure hunt for the story; players can later convert these characters to normal characters if so desired. Not a bad cross-promotion all around, really. Source: … [Read more...] about Otherland plans a new character type to experience an upcoming short story by Tad Williams
Pictured above: Someone’s awesome dragon avatar flying above Erstwhile at the Second Life Fantasy Faire. My weekend was made up of a combination of mutliplayer Stardew Valley with my sister and time spent at events in Second Life. We attended Relay Stock and said farewell to the Fantasy Faire with a final round of exploration. I also spent time working on new content for my Water Horse shop. And that’s where this story comes from. I still feel a little bad about not having “exciting” new content to post here like I have in the past. There just isn’t much to write about when it comes to multiplayer Stardew (aside from the fact it continues to be fun) and making horse content in SL. So I’ve decided that whenever something funny that warrants a story happens in SL, I’ll work on writing it up here. Kinda like Tales from the Duty Finder… just SL instead. So, here’s my first SL Story. Being the Dragon One amazing aspect of Second … [Read more...] about SL Stories: Close Encounters of the Dragon Kind
