This week week in MMO crowdfunding, Star Citizen studio Cloud Imperium ended the year with a bang, offsetting the reveal of its Squadron 42 roadmap – and the hefty delay of its beta into at least 2020 – with the revelation that it’s picked up $46M in outside investment to see S42 through marketing and completion. Ashes of Creation launched its Apocalypse battle royale standalone game too. It’s free-to-play, so you can jump right in. We did, chiefly to sort out where the real MMO stands in terms of visual appeals and combat – here’s what we think so far. Meanwhile, City of Titans delayed Issue 0, Pathfinder Online is still alive, The Repopulation actually pushed out an update, Prosperous Universe hit early access, Legends of Aria prepped a new patch, Shroud of the Avatar is running a skill promo and pushed out R61, Temtem got an alpha update, and Elite Dangerous released Beyond Chapter Four, though it hasn’t been entirely … [Read more...] about Make My MMO: Star Citizen’s big investment, Ashes of Creation’s Apocalypse

This week’s Massively Overthinking is a serious one from our dear Patreon patron Duane. Here’s the jumping off point for his topic: “There has lately been an attitude on various sites and videos lately regarding MMOs falling out of fashion, and the latest news from Turbine is quite a hefty blow, confirming many a confirmation bias. The sentiment is that the ‘Golden Age’ of MMOs existed back in 1999-2003 and that MMOs are currently in a downward spiral both in quality of content and quantity of viable options. The thing is, since 2010, 20-50 MMOs have been releasing in the west every year, and 2017 is already looking to be a pretty big year for MMOs. In addition, many of the MMOs that launched a decade ago are still playable (even if they may be in a zombie/maintenance mode), and more people are playing MMOs than ever before. There have never before been such a vast selection of available playstyles and unique worlds to explore.” … [Read more...] about Massively Overthinking: The golden age of MMORPGs
World of Warcraft’s Battle for Azeroth expansion is the latest in a long series of expansions for the legendary MMORPG. I figured the first article of this year should be one my most commonly asked question and no, it's not another question about my mysterious identity or gender. It's a question regarding whether they should play Black Desert or Blade & Soul! It's going to be one long article, so I hope you're ready for it. Introduction - About Me I'm sure there are a lot of people who don't know me, since I'm a ninja and all. I'd like to say I'm pretty experienced with both games having played them for over a year or two and longer. Both games were my main MMORPG during the early beta phases and releases in various languages. I played the CBT, OBT, and release of Blade & Soul since the early 2012~2015 on and off and Black Desert 2013~2015. You can find my ancient videos on my Youtube Page or my site. I figured now would be the best time to write about both games given I'm not as actively playing them anymore, which can rule out favoritism or that "fresh" new video game feeling. Honestly, I … [Read more...] about STEPARU News, Reviews, Previews & Information for Foreign Games Black Desert VS Blade & Soul 2016 Special
Recently, Srikanth posted about 5 remarkable tech-entrepreneurs you should know, and reading that list was such a treat. When I was reading it, I realized the number one reason that any product or company becomes successful is because of the person/people behind the company. For example, if you know anything about Steve jobs, you would know that Apple wouldn't be Apple without him. So, I decided to dig deeper into some of the most popular companies and tried finding the person/people responsible for its success. One of the major benefits of working online is that I have everything I need for my work with me on my laptop. So I'm always on my laptop. When I feel lonely, I can just hop on Facebook, or Gmail, or Skype. If I am feeling weary, I can listen to music or watch videos on YouTube. My point is that evolution in the IT industry has brought many of my favorite things closer to my fingertips. In almost every industry, products and services are getting faster, easier, more … [Read more...] about 15 Popular Internet Companies & The Founders Behind Them
