You may already know the first version of this FAQ. I decided to rewrite it, update it and put newer screenshots in. So here is the new version. A very special thank you goes to Tasha Darke for reading through it all. I was hoping for a few bits of corrected grammar but she gave me very valuable feedback on top of that! This FAQ is mostly for those who have just recently heard of Guild Wars 2 and now want to know more. If you have been following the game for years or even just months, if you have pre-purchased the game and if you have already played it, you are welcome to read it as well, but you will find a lot of information that you already know. Since the game is still in development a lot of things are subject to change (yes, believe it or not, ArenaNet is handling the Beta Weekend Events like a real beta and is still changing things around). Also, new information comes out every now and then which might outdate what you can read here. If you notice any of that – or just … [Read more...] about Guild Wars 2: A FAQ for new players

Trove launched last Thursday and a lot of people are curious whether this game is any good. I will try to give you an impression of the game, but will try to keep it short(ish). There is a quite simple reason for this: This is the 4th time that I’m writing down my impressions of Trove. The first time was in July 2014, when Trove was still in alpha. The second time was during closed beta in October 2014. The third time was during open beta in February 2015. You may also notice quite a lot of similarities between this post here and the one from February. I had tried to write a new impression piece, but found that so many things from the post in February still hold true that I decided to rework this blog post and bring it up-to-date instead of writing everything again. An additional note: An online game’s launch is usually accompanied by queue times etc. when a lot of people want to play the game at the same time. I will not write about this here, though, as I’m certain … [Read more...] about Post-launch Impressions: Is Trove a good game?
Part of The Complete Beginner’s Guide When you buy a new plane you might think you’re getting a shiny factory-fresh model in tip-top condition, but I’m afraid that’s not the case; as a rookie you’re assigned a battered old thing that’s had several not-so-careful owners. As well as researching new aircraft, you also unlock modifications for your current planes as you fly them, enabling you to knock out the worst of the dents and service the engine for a bit more speed. After a battle, you should have a “Researching progress” section on the results screen showing the planes that you flew, and progress towards upgrades for them: If you’ve completed any modification research, you may have further pop-up windows allowing you to purchase that modification and to pick the next component to start researching; if you skip that window, or want to check on upgrades at any time then you can access the modifications screen for a plane by … [Read more...] about A Beginner’s Guide to War Thunder – Upgrades

Thanks to the developer of the Smush.it plugin, we got very spoiled and became used to free image compression. In the last few months, everything we knew about free image compression has changed. Now, most of the WordPress plugins which are available online offer a small quota of free compressions & then you have to pay. So in this post, I thought it would be a good idea to look at all the existing image compression tools out there (free & paid). Those who have a small or medium sized WordPress blog can use multiple WordPress plugins to optimize all of their existing/future uploads for free. It might be time-consuming, but I know that when you are starting out, money is more important than time. For those who have a medium sized or a large blog, you may want to consider going for a paid option. This will help you load your blog faster & will keep your readers happy. Here’s the formula: Happy readers = Good blog = Better ranking = More money That’s a good … [Read more...] about Best WordPress Image Compression Plugins Compared: 2016
