Product Review: AVerMedia GH337 Gaming Headset

· May 1, 2018 · Leave a Comment

As someone with a hearing deficiency, comfort and audio levels are equally important. Shortly after I picked up my Corsair VOID Pro headset, I was sent an AverMedia SonicWave GH337 headset to review. I decided to post this review on MMOHuts instead of OnRPG, because one of the major features is their microphone, and I can see it being quite useful in the online gaming field. The AverMedia GH337 features noise-canceling microphones, which is terrific. I did test the headset on my PC though (below). Personally, I love AverMedia products, that’s what I use for my Capture Card (AverMedia LGX). With that in mind, I had high expectations. To test it, I plugged it into my Nintendo Switch for the weekend, to review both games on the Switch I was already reviewing (A Robot Named Fight! and Saturday Morning RPG). As a side note, that second game is still in the process of being reviewed. I should have thought about using it while I was reviewing Guns of Icarus, but I was already sick and … [Read more...] about Product Review: AVerMedia GH337 Gaming Headset

Week with Axon

· July 14, 2017 · Leave a Comment

I have now now been using my new phone for a week and thought I would talk a bit about some of my impressions this morning.  Firstly I feel like I need to explain my decision process a bit and how I ended up with a non-AAA manufacturer phone.  For some time I have balked at the price of cell phones.  Yes I am old enough to remember a time when you just walked into the cellular carrier and they gave you whatever phone you wanted along with your one year contract.  After a point that became a two year contract, and eventually a discounted rate on the phone…  and now they just charge you a monthly fee as part of a rent to own style scheme to dilute the cost of your insanely expensive hardware.  I’ve not swapped phones nearly as often as the manufacturers would really like me to…  my first “smartphone” being a Samsung Blackjack 2 which upgraded into an iPhone 3gs which caused me to venture into android land… where I … [Read more...] about Week with Axon

Razer Nommo Chroma Review (Hardware Review: Speakers)

· December 3, 2018 · Leave a Comment

This is an interesting thing to review because I haven’t used speakers on my PC in such a very long time. As someone who suffers from hearing loss in one ear, I tend to use headphones, because I can keep my volume at a decent level for me to hear, without making everyone around me suffer whatever I happen to be watching at the time. It’s with that in mind that I have been avoiding using speakers because they never seemed to be quite clear enough without jacking the volume to some incredible, insane level and making everyone disappointed in me/my taste in music. That has not been the case with the Razer Nommo Chroma speakers, which Razer provided me with for this review. These have been the clearest, most easy-to-hear speakers I’ve had the pleasure of listening to. They are, unfortunately, not a be-all-end-all solution for me, but that’s not the fault of the speakers, that’s the fault of me not having a 500-1000 dollar microphone. I still have to use … [Read more...] about Razer Nommo Chroma Review (Hardware Review: Speakers)
