Once Destiny 2: Forsaken launches, Bungie has big plans for "beyond day 1". Players can expect to find information about yesterday's launch of the 2.0 update, as well as brief information about the road ahead through seasons and the annual pass. Forsaken's launch begins the Season of the Outlaw that provides new "activities and rewards" once the main campaign has been completed. In addition, the blog says, "We've also hidden away many surprises for you to discover. Each subsequent 3-month Season will usher in a month-over-month roll out of new experiences, events, rewards and activities, most of which will be available for free to every Destiny 2 player." Annual Pass holders will also gain access to a trio of "new experiences" for endgame players with new "activities and modes, discovery, and challenges that escalate, ebb and flow over time, with each offering prestigious rewards". These three Annual Pass "chapters" are called Black Armory, Joker's Wild and Penumbra. The Bungie / … [Read more...] about Bungie Reveals Post-Launch Content Coming to Destiny 2: Forsaken

Last night was the beginning of the Destiny 2 PC beta for those of us who have already preordered the game. I am one of those weirdos that loves Destiny so much that I plan on playing it on multiple platforms. With Destiny year 2 and beyond I played it actively on both the PS4 and Xbox One… and going forward I am planning on doing the same and splitting time between PC and PS4. One of the things you need to realize is that I have some strange habits when it comes to gaming. I split my time between my gaming desktop upstairs and my gaming laptop in the living room. I’ve found the secret to marital happiness as a gamer is to be able to be flexible in my gaming habits and there are nights when I just need to be more available than cloistered in my office with my ear cans on. As a result I have two systems to worry about being able to play Destiny on. The positive is however as someone who potentially might be interested in Destiny 2, … [Read more...] about Destiny 2 PC Beta Thoughts
Even though I am playing playing much of it this very moment… Destiny holds an extremely special place in my heart. I love this game and I love what it has become over the course of the two expansions… and multiple content patches. They promised a setting as deep and rich and Star Wars, and while a lot of people will disagree with me… I feel that they ultimately delivered on that. The problem however is that they did not deliver in a contiguous story that was easy to learn. Instead they sprinkled the game with environmental storytelling and nuggets of information that the faithful had to gather up and piece together to learn what was happening in the world. Personally this made me want to know more about the world because each time I uncovered a truth it was like discovering another piece that fit into a giant puzzle I was trying to assemble in my head. For many others however… including the vast majority of my … [Read more...] about Destiny 2 Hopes
Just in case it’s inexplicably less clear than a Waterford bed-pan I should commence by explaining that I was going to title this post “It is your Destiny!”, but then thought that using an obscure line from a scarcely-known franchise might be terribly confusing, and instead left it to the reader to reverse-engineer that opening based on a shoe shop. It is, of course, well established that the funniest jokes are those lifted from other sources with random words changed then explained at length, so: you’re welcome. I missed out on the original Destiny, not having a console, mostly seeing references to it in comparison to The Division, which I enjoyed for a fair while before it bogged down in endgame grind. I had a quick go at the open beta of Destiny 2, to check my now slightly aged system could cope with it, and it all seemed rather fun so I jumped in at launch and have been playing pretty steadily for the last couple of months. At its core, the first-person … [Read more...] about Oh sir, I’ve confused you. It’s not my Destiny, it’s everybody’s Destiny! As much my Destiny as your Destiny, or, dare I say it, and I think I dare, Graham Gooch’s Destiny.
