With the constant clamoring from fans for Daybreak (or someone) to create an honest-to-goodness next-gen sequel to the EverQuest franchise, you’d hope that it would actually happen someday. Obviously EverQuest Next itself didn’t pan out — not that everyone considered that title a sequel or even deserving of the EQ name. But it was impossible not to find a glimmer of hope at the news that Daybreak was hiring for positions involving a new game. And then even that tiny flame of hope was snuffed out. The upcoming unannounced title is apparently a first-person shooter, a multi-platform FPS. That doesn’t sound very compatible with the Norrath people want. But that doesn’t mean it won’t be the Norrath people get! Now before you hyperventilate: This is just speculation. I know EQIII the FPS is a longshot. If it has any ties to Daybreak’s existing portfolio at all, the new game is much more likely to be related … [Read more...] about EverQuesting: Could Daybreak’s new FPS be an EverQuest?

I’d just like to say that I correctly guessed Chernobog would likely be the first Slavic God. It was appropriate, and having the voice of Geralt from The Witcher voice him? There’s something poetic about that. When his kit was being revealed, the Hi-Rez stream chat was exploding. Oh lord, “He’s broken, his kit’s too strong, blah blah blah”. It’s the same as when every god comes out. Does he have a cool kit? Sure. Are some of his powers familiar from other gods? Perhaps. But you know what? Who cares? After some good time playing him, the next thing I heard was “He’s not as strong as insert god here right out of the gate”. Okay? Is it really so bad for him to not come out of the gate being an instant ban? Why not be glad he’s strong without being a busted pile of garbage? Do you not remember Cu Chulainn? Come on, guys. Chernobog is also known as the “Black God”, and is the counterpart of the White Gold, … [Read more...] about SMITE God Review – Chernobog, the Black God
Play SMITE for freeSMITE 5.9: Dragon’s Fortune is technically live on all three major platforms today, with a pile of bug fixes, new skins, new chest items, and the usual round of item balancing tweaks. As for the gods themselves, here’s the breakdown of what to expect: Ah Puch’s Corpse Explosion’s damage will shift around to rely a little bit less on minions, buffing him in the early game; Cu Chulainn is getting a wee nerf to Berserk; Erlang Shen, Neith, Skadi, Zeus, and Nox will see slight buffs; Hachiman and Xbalanque are being nerfed slightly to bring them into parity with other characters of their archetype; Zhong Kui should be a whole lot less frustrating to play; and Chernobog, the game’s newest god, is getting well-earned buffs to make him easier to play. Of course, that rundown assumes you can actually get in to play, which isn’t a given as the servers have been struggling to stay afloat thanks to tons of people playing and a strange … [Read more...] about SMITE’s Dragon’s Fortune is live today as Hi-Rez works to fix server crashes
For over five years I have patiently waited for the opportunity to jump back into a Mark Jacobs "RVR" game, and in less than two weeks I'm going to have that chat. Camelot Unchained has just about reached that point of no return where the game enters a "beta" state where we will log in and make that snap-judgement first impression of whether or not this is the game for us. That first moment we log in is going to go one of two ways. We're going to be pleasantly surprised and see the potential CU will have at launch. The game will play about as we can expect with a big RvR world. We will get in and feel that agonizing feeling one has when you just know this isn't going to be a good game and you've waited five years for nothing. While I seriously hope with every fiber of my being that this goes well, the possibility does exist that we will think, "This is it? This is Camelot Unchained?" I bet they're stressed out over at City State Entertainment, because I'm stressed out just waiting … [Read more...] about Less Than 2 Weeks Until Camelot Unchained Beta!
