Those eyes... The eyes of the Diablo! Location: Warsong Hold, Borean Tundra – Vengeance Landing, Howling Fjord – Grol’dom Farm, the Barrens This oddity comes in via email from Umjin who simply asks “What’s the deal with the bees?” Included were several pictures of what you see here, drawings of bees on the sandbags of the Horde airships that transport people to and from Northrend. I must admit, this one did stump me at first until I remembered a trip I had made a while back through the Barrens. That trip is where I learned the darkest secret of the Horde and I hesitated quite a bit about even posting about it in fear of what the Alliance might do with this knowledge. But Umjin wants to know, and I’m sure you all do too. So here it is. The Horde is afraid of Bees. Even Batman fears the power of Bees! It’s true. While making my way towards the Crossroads I found Trok, a young orc who was running day and night from this … [Read more...] about Bee-ware or Bee Prepared!
With the constant clamoring from fans for Daybreak (or someone) to create an honest-to-goodness next-gen sequel to the EverQuest franchise, you’d hope that it would actually happen someday. Obviously EverQuest Next itself didn’t pan out — not that everyone considered that title a sequel or even deserving of the EQ name. But it was impossible not to find a glimmer of hope at the news that Daybreak was hiring for positions involving a new game. And then even that tiny flame of hope was snuffed out. The upcoming unannounced title is apparently a first-person shooter, a multi-platform FPS. That doesn’t sound very compatible with the Norrath people want. But that doesn’t mean it won’t be the Norrath people get! Now before you hyperventilate: This is just speculation. I know EQIII the FPS is a longshot. If it has any ties to Daybreak’s existing portfolio at all, the new game is much more likely to be related … [Read more...] about EverQuesting: Could Daybreak’s new FPS be an EverQuest?
Welp, you can’t accuse Hi-Rez of not chasing trends: Not only is it introducing a battle royale mode to SMITE, but it’s actually just launched a standalone free-to-play battle royale game into Steam early access today. It’s called Realm Royale, and the company is calling it the “first 100-person fantasy Battle Royale” title. You might remember it from its previous incarnation as Paladins: Battlegrounds, a mode originally planned for the MOBA-shooter Paladins (and we liked it when we played it too). “Players begin each round of Realm Royale by selecting one of five traditional fantasy classes. Each class offers a unique playstyle; Mages can soar above the battlefield and rain down fireballs, while Engineers deploy turrets and shields in hero shooter-style combat. […] Each round unfolds in true battle royale style, with 100 players dropping from a zeppelin into a massive fantasy-inspired map full of goblin villages and mushroom forests. Players … [Read more...] about Hi-Rez launches standalone F2P game Realm Royale, a mix of ‘open-world PvP MMO and your favorite hero shooter’
Choose your class and be the last champion standing in Realm Royale, the new battle royale game from Hi-Rez Studios which enters free-to-play Early Access on Steam. Players begin each round of Realm Royale by selecting one of five traditional fantasy classes. Each class offers a unique playstyle; Mages can soar above the battlefield and rain down fireballs, while Engineers deploy turrets and shields in hero shooter-style combat. “Realm Royale’s class-based, ability-driven combat brings a new experience to the battle royale genre,” said Rory “Drybear” Newbrough, Realm Royale Executive Producer. “It’s a battle royale that feels like the perfect mixture of an open-world PvP MMO and your favorite hero shooter.” Each round unfolds in true battle royale style, with 100 players dropping from a zeppelin into a massive fantasy-inspired map full of goblin villages and mushroom forests. Players loot weapons and abilities from chests as the fog … [Read more...] about Realm Royale Enters Steam Early Access
Realm Royale released this week on Steam. I don't know if "released" is the proper terminology for game in "Alpha," but such is the way of gaming these days. It's entirely a Fortnite clone, though I think they may prefer "Paladins spin-off." It's a battle royale game. It's hugely inspired by Fortnite. While gameplay is almost entirely like Fortnite, there are a few exceptions. Read on, you may be surprised. The setting if you might not have guessed is more of a mystical fantasy world. I find this setting infinitely more enjoyable than Fortnite or its "realistic" counterparts. The world matches that theme with neat fantasy-like biomes. Best BR world I've played yet. Realm Royale features a class system, though from my limited experience thus far the classes haven't really mattered. They're essentially a choice in a few abilities you get. The Warrior I played leaped, and the Mage could fly. There are also forges spread throughout the map that offer the ability to craft items. I … [Read more...] about My Realm Royale Thoughts / Impressions
