Google PageRank Is Not Dead: Case Studies, Myths & Facts

October 22, 2012 robert Leave a Comment

Google’s PageRank is undoubtedly one of the most hyped SEO (Search Engine Optimization) term. Webmasters and SEOs around gave a lot of importance to it until mid 2000s. But again the question is: Is the PageRank dead? In one word: No, it’s not dead (at least that’s what my sense says). Before I move on I assume that you already know how Google Search works. I’m not going to say exactly what a PageRank is (or how is it calculated) as it involves some jargons and it’s irrelevant here. According to Wikipedia, Google PageRank is a link analysis algorithm, named after Google’s Larry Page. That said, Google PageRank is nothing but a number ranged from 0 – 10 which is Google’s opinion about how reputable a web page is. Its like a score that Google gives you but its called a rank. It’s not just about the backlinks to your web page but about how important those links are. Google determines the importance of those links by conducting a … [Read more...] about Google PageRank Is Not Dead: Case Studies, Myths & Facts

6 DoubleClick for Publishers Case Studies to Learn From

February 25, 2015 robert Leave a Comment

Google’s DoubleClick for Publishers is the go-to ad serving platform that major publishers gravitate to. With 30% of the market share, Doubleclick for publishers or DFP as it is known in common parlance is considered the best ad serving technology out there, be it for web, mobile, or video. Launched in 1996 as an independent, and then revolutionary,  ad serving agency for the web, DoubleClick Inc. was later purchased by Google and redressed as DFP. One of the major reasons why DFP remains the most used ad-serving technology is their ability to unleash innovative and vertical focused solutions, guides and knowledge throughout the year. Take  look at the innovation of DFP in 2014 and you’ll see why publishers, big and small, love DFP. So we decided that since we have already spoken quite a bit about DoubleClick for Publishers and its pros and cons, how about we take real world examples and success stories of major publishers who scaled their publications with … [Read more...] about 6 DoubleClick for Publishers Case Studies to Learn From

Effect of Showing Dates on Search Engine Ranking [Case Study]

April 26, 2013 robert Leave a Comment

Last month I wrote an article on how to remove dates from search engine results, and this one month has given me enough data to share this case-study with you. In my earlier article on how to recover from Google Panda, I mentioned that removing dates had a positive impact on the overall search engine ranking. This created a lot of buzz in the blogosphere & many bloggers reached out to ask for more data on this. Before you remove the date from your blog post ( Do read the hat tip at the bottom), go through every word written in this article. It was a risky thing to do a case-study on ShoutMeLoud, as it’s my main source of income. Anyhow, I thought of having a little fun & decided to do a SEO case study by removing & re-adding the dates. I put the dates back on my blog posts to see the effect in search engine ranking. This case study will allow me to illustrate for you how my blog traffic was impacted, and to explore some possible solutions to … [Read more...] about Effect of Showing Dates on Search Engine Ranking [Case Study]
