Gamigo announced today that Fiesta Online is celebrating its 11th birthday over the next event filled 2 weeks. Fiesta was one of the early free to play pioneers in the Western world back when it was published by Outspark. While the game is definitely dated today, it's remarkable to see it still going strong. While the game's playerbase is certainly off its peak, it still has a core audience that remains loyal and the game still gets updated. To celebrate Fiesta's 11th birthday gamigo is hosting the Cupcake War Kingdom quest event. During the tooth-achingly sweet “Cupcake War” Kingdom quest, the inhabitants of Fiesta can fight their opponents with deliciously baked goods. In the end, players have to offer their rewards, to the “Sugar King”. There will also be a special anniversary quest chain, where players have to complete birthday themed tasks. In “Roumen” Alfonso awaits the players who must help him and his merry group of friends. … [Read more...] about Fiesta Online Celebrates 11th Birthday

Look, folks, some MMOs have been sunsetted for so long, their emulators are celebrating big birthdays. Such is the case for Star Wars Galaxies Legends, one of the largest of the dozens currently in operation for the original game. SWGL just turned three years old and is in the middle of a celebratory event that’s bigger than what a lot of live games see. The player devs say that there are 89,000 characters on the server, and if every account had five characters, that’d come out to nearly 18,000 unique accounts – not too shabby at all for three years, especially for an NGE server! The festivities include a galaxy-spanning quest to murder bosses for cake, plus fireworks, multiple new collections, new paintings and gifts, and a double experience event running through Monday. … [Read more...] about Star Wars Galaxies Legends emulator celebrates third birthday with a quest for cake

If you’ve ever been to a massive gathering of tech-savvy people — like say, a gaming convention — you know better than to rely on the internet for sending emails or tweeting consistently, let alone for gaming itself. That’s just one of the lessons being learned by Niantic and the thousands of people who paid for tickets to Pokemon Go Fest in Chicago this weekend. Multiple outlets are reporting that not only can many people inside the park not connect to play, but there have been huge lines outside the park as people still wait to get in. When Niantic CEO John Hanke took the stage to calm everyone, he was subsequently booed and heckled while issuing apologies. Ouch. Popular fansite The Silph Road reports that Niantic is offering refunds and chunks of currency, but that won’t help all people who flew in from out of state — or out of country — for an event that’s gone south. Massively OP POGO specialist Andrew Ross tells us that the event … [Read more...] about Pokemon Go Fest in Chicago is pretty much a trainwreck
