Tencent Games announced that co-op is officially available in Chess Rush, and also announced a patch for August 8th. Chess Rush teased some features that will be coming soon, such as new characters, a new mode, and a new season will arrive early this month. The co-op mode has players doing battle in 2v2 matches, facing off against three other teams during these battles. If that’s not exciting enough, 4v4 mode was also announced and is heading to the game on August 15th. Chess Rush features over 50 heroes for players to choose from to set up their elite formations when going into battle. Tencent has revealed that two new characters will be coming to the game in early August. Overwatch had a strange 2018. While Blizzard expanded the game’s developer team last year, it also put out less content (and more repeat content) than the year before, to much grumbling from its playerbase, and that, we assume, helped knock it out of the revenue rankings the last couple of months. That said, the expanded dev team must be working on something big, right? I’m fond of the theories that Blizzard will be taking a page out of the Dota 2, League of Legends, and SMITE playbooks to add some sort of co-op PvE mode or even a single-player expansion to the game this year. Of course, what I’d really like is for it to spring MMO wings, but I rather doubt Blizzard’s sights are set so high. A co-op PvE map that actually makes use of the game’s elaborate backstory? Yeah, that’d be neat. Would you play Overwatch if it had a PvE or co-op mode? What do you think Blizzard is up to over there? Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up … [Read more...] about The Daily Grind: Would you play Overwatch if it had a PvE or co-op mode?

0 I’ve been looking forward to Stardew Valley co-op since the game first came out. If any game ever demanded a co-op mode, this is it. I’m really bummed that it’s entirely an online multiplayer experience without any local co-op. I guess I missed the blog post where they said local co-op isn’t going to be a thing. ConcernedApe’s tweets in January alluded to otherwise… at least to me. “4-player Stardew Valley LAN party at my house… it’s really fun. It still needs some work, but the underlying network code is solid. Being in the same room and yelling at each other about what to do next, or if anyone has any stone, is great fun.” Then he tweeted again: “Also online” I know now that I mistakenly took the “also online” to mean that there would also be a local multipalyer, but at least to me that was an easy mistake to make. I was hoping for some local multiplayer with my wife on the Switch. … [Read more...] about Stardew Valley Co-op is Almost Enough
