Bless Unleashed was the first appointment I booked for PAX West, and the one I looked forward to the most, simply because of the confusion surrounding its announcement the week before the convention. It’s no secret that Bless Online, the PC MMORPG from Neowiz, had a poor reception before it came West, and perhaps an even poorer one here in North America. One only needs take a quick glance at the Steam reviews to see that Bless has a troubled reputation. So when I walked into my appointment to meet the team behind Bless Unleashed, I had one question burning from hours of discussion at the office. Why would Bandai Namco team with Neowiz to produce a Bless MMO? The answers I was to hear in the interview would surprise me, both in their honest and ambition. But before that, I sat down to the demo to get a sense of what Bless Unleashed was. The Bless Unleashed demo offered a small solo instance that gave a sense of what combat and controls would be like in the game. There were three … [Read more...] about Bless Unleashed Demo & Interview (PAX West 2018)
Contracting resources group
Iron Sight starts off with a simple but believable premise. The year is 2025, and natural resources have become scarce in most areas around the world. The Middle East, however, still has a bountiful amount of natural resources, and two main factions began to clash over control of the region. The first faction is the NAF: short for North Atlantic Federation, the group is an alliance formed between the United States and Europe. The second faction is a Russian transnational corporation called EDEN, which contracts mercenaries to do its’ bidding. The “story”, doesn’t have an actual ending as you would expect from an MMOFPS and just serves as an unneeded, but a nice backdrop to explain why all these guys are running around shooting each other. But that’s not why you’re here. You’re here because you want to shoot people. Is Iron Sight a good game to satisfy your multiplayer FPS itch? The Gameplay Iron Sight has 4 PVE and PVP game modes respectively … [Read more...] about Ironsight 2018 Review – Is This FPS Worth Playing?
Translations: LIFE AND ENDURANCE: Characters have a life bar and an endurance bar. When you take damage, it will generally subtract from your endurance bar. When endurance hits 0, you're knocked out, not dead. Once you're life has reached 0, you're dead and you will have to respawn at the nearest spawn point. In PvE, creatures are generally not evil so they will leave you alone once you're knocked out. If you don't get killed after being knocked out, you will eventually recover with some of your life gone. Of course players can continue to attack you and kill you after you've been knocked out, as long as they are willing to suffer the consequences. (Only matters on Syndesia of course. Tartaros is lawless). There are conditions that can cause you to lose your life, like sickness. There are spells that allow you to consume your own life and endurance. Assuming you don't get killed, you will eventually recover after being knocked out. The exact time hasn't been decided yet. Your allies … [Read more...] about Summary of the Survival & Travel Q&A livestream.
In September, the world learned that former Blizzard Chief Creative Officer Rob Pardo launched a new video game studio called Bonfire Studios. Pardo’s biggest claim to fame which earned him a spot-on TIME Magazine’s 100 influential people of 2006 was that he was the prime architect of the record shattering MMORPG: World of Warcraft. Pardo’s success with WoW granted him luminary status in the video game industry. As a frequent speaker in the video game conference circuit, people listen to what he has to say, even the BBC. Recently he told them that he believes that e-sports should be an Olympic sport. It’s now clear that Rob was one of the prime proponents of Blizzard’s initiative in e-sports. It’s hard not to be impressed by Rob’s journey from mere game designer on Starcraft to entertainment visionary. But this journey is far from over. Rob left Blizzard in 2014. When people leave a video game studio the real reasons for their … [Read more...] about Rob Pardo’s Journey of Redemption Begins with Bonfire Studios
Let’s talk about the publishers for a change. Media sellers (aka publishers) are already losing massive chunks of revenue from ad blocking, both on desktop and mobile. Then they are supposed to be held accountable for, just, all of the fraud and pay for “cleaning up the mess” (like in this impassioned post). Even though the publishers who sold premium inventory on private ad exchanges to brand-consistent advertisers have also been victimized by fraud… Ten per cent of ad impressions from premium programmatic ad campaigns are fraudulent (triggered by bots). The surprise was the ubiquity of the fraud. It is not just no-name websites; it also affects premium publishers. — Bill Duggan, VP of Association of National Advertisers (Source) Meanwhile, growing emphasis on viewable impressions could open the doors to further trouble… (Often) Viewability as quality produces its opposite: viewability as clutter. There are threads of connection between the … [Read more...] about How Publishers Can Fight Ad Block, Fraud, and Viewability Problems
