A console version of Crossfire, the world's most popular shooter, is coming to Xbox One in 2020. Titled Crossfire X, the console version is developed by Smilegate, the same studio behind the 2007 original Crossfire. The original PC version of Crossfire still boasts over 8 million concurrent players, over 650 million registered accounts, and its routinely grosses over $1 billion dollars annually. The game's success is largely due to China, but a Western version has been available for several years, but failed to find much of an audience. Inspired by Valve's Counter-Strike, Crossfire quickly branched out to add new game modes such as zombies, vehicle modes, underwater matches, and much more. The sale of skins, new characters, and powerful weapons keeps the money rolling in. No word yet on weather Crossfire X will maintain the original's pay-to-win business model. While Crossfire X will launch first on Xbox, expect a PlayStation release later on. FacebookTwitterReddit Related … [Read more...] about Crossfire X Coming To Consoles In 2020

Efforts to increase its presence in the West via a European office to boost the game’s presence lasted barely a year. Smilegate is likely hoping that partnering with Microsoft will yield greater dividends. While payment models weren’t discussed, CrossFire has been free-to-play since its launch, and there’s no reason to think that will be any different with CrossFire X — Xbox’s issues on … [Read more...] about E3 2019: Smilegate’s CrossFire X Coming To Xbox One

There seems to be a bizarre competition going on between MMORPG developers to one-up each other’s games with progressively impractical mounts. I guess when you’ve seen one horse done a million times, your heart yearns for something, anything different. But then we start getting things like roller beetles, giant bees, and racing snails, the limits of credulity become strained. I’ve spent way too much time as a grown man trying to figure out how, in these fictional universes, these creatures were flagged as tamable transport when there were so many better and tried-and-true options available. Even my incredible imagination can’t summon up an explanation. In your opinion, what is the most impractical MMO mount ever devised? What about it is just ridiculous to you? Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred … [Read more...] about The Daily Grind: What is the most impractical MMO mount ever devised?
