Daily diet for muscle gain
Star Trek Online’s Lohlunat Festival summer event has been running since late last week, opening up a new resort island on Risa, its pristine beaches bringing all manner of spacefarers to this tropical tourist planet. I could barely find parking for my spaceship and had to sleep behind the damn dumpsters because it’s peak season and all the rooms are booked up. But man, the view is totally worth it: Helloooooo, Mr. Beefcake! Er, wait, sorry. You were thinking more of a panoramic seascape kinda view? Well, I’ve got some of those too: There are lots of new activities to do and even more rewards to earn, but the one thing I want to focus on for this event is obtaining the Risian Corvette starship. That means doing the “Flying High” daily for at least 25 days before August 2nd, which rewards 40 Lohlunat pearls a pop for a total of 1000 by the end of the grind. Normally, I abhor these kinds of daily farms for anything, but Risa’s so beautiful I almost … [Read more...] about Screenshots Of The Day: Parasailing is For Chumps, Jet Packs Are The Way To Go!
On Wednesdays, we farm gems. In Trove, that is. That’s because ever since Trion revamped the daily login system, players get a daily bonus for doing a specific type of gameplay, with an even bigger bonus for subbers. It’s on a fixed weekly rotation, meaning every Monday is the same, every Tuesday, and so on. Wednesday is gems, so everybody in the game is farming gem boxes because they are just that important to character power. The bonuses are extremely generous, and objectively, I can say it’s a great system. Buuuuuut I find myself being mildly annoyed by the compulsion to go do that one thing, knowing I’d be missing out if I didn’t. Anybody remember old-school Ultima Online and power hour, when your skill gains were accelerated for the first hour you were logged in every day? It’s even worse than that because at least that was over after an hour and people could relax and go back to ganking miners or shuffling bags of regs around their houses. This … [Read more...] about The Daily Grind: Do you feel pressure to play MMOs for daily bonuses or experience events?
With all the talk of Defiance 2050, let’s not forget that Defiance is still live. More than that, it’s encouraging players to come take part in the Event Horizon… er, event, which will pit players against Syphon enemies. More than that, it’ll give 100% increases in experience, reputation, and score, which means that you’ll get more progress in less time than you would otherwise. But what’s that, it’s not going to matter with the relaunch? Sure it will; you’ll just want more Valor rewards, and those are also present in the event with lots of extra achievements to unlock. So jump in and start shooting to make some longer-term gains; the event runs until May 7th. Dear Diary, New Acquisitions: 4Current Total: 155 Isn’t it amazing, how sometimes, even achieving a small, seemingly trivial goal can make you feel like a million bucks? I think because of this, some part of me will always be drawn to World of Warcraft — it is, in essence, a very goal-oriented game; there’s always something to be working towards, whether you’re a hardcore raider chasing heroic achievements, or simply like good old boring down-to-earth me, trying to collect 150 unique companion pets before the release of Mists of Pandaria. In less than 24 hours, the expansion will launch, and I’m happy to report that I’ve completed what I set out to do well ahead of time, but why stop there? I’m sure I don’t have to tell you, a pet hunter’s job is never done. I’ve always been a rabid an enthusiastic collector of companion pets, which makes the upcoming pet capture-and-battle system feel like it’s right up my alley, but … [Read more...] about The Pet Hunter Diaries: Prepared For “Pandaria”
