This month marks the establishment of the Chinese Online Ethics Review Committee, a government organization tasked with reviewing online games and determining if they are fit for sale in China in guidance with the country’s ethical rules. Confirmed by Tencent in August, China instituted an approval freeze around March of this year for games being sold within the country until the government can establish newer guidelines on approving or banning certain titles. Of 20 popular titles to be reviewed, none of them passed muster. Judging from the list of games and the reasons for their refusal, most of the problem stem from blood and gore, vulgar content, overly revealing female characters, and ‘inharmonious chat.’ Incidentally, titles like Diablo and Chu Liu Xiang were also refused for “missions including fraud.” Of the twenty titles, eleven were held for corrective action while nine were prohibited outright and are presumably banned. PUBG, Fortnite, H1Z1, and … [Read more...] about Chinese Government Reviews 20 Games, Passes None of Them

How Indian Government & RBI is Killing Freelancing In India
Before I get any further into the point of this article, let me tell you something about myself: I’m not a financial expert. In fact, I have very limited knowledge about finances. However, one thing that I know well is how freelancing works, how Paypal works, how Payoneer works … and what the Indian government is doing (or not doing) to promote online jobs in India. There’s no denying the fact that the majority of income sources from freelancing or blogging come from western countries like the U.S. and the U.K, and that there are many payment options available for online professionals in western countries: You can use PayPal to receive payment (with limits, of course) You can request monthly check payments You can use direct ACH transfers. (Offered by Shareasale, Clickbank, etc.) As a professional blogger, I have accounts on all major affiliate networks including CJ, Clickbank and many others. Daybreak’s Russian parent company’s assets are frozen by the U.S. government
A chain of business connections could have a real and dire impact on Daybreak Games Company following the freezing of company assets by the U.S. government. On April 6th, the U.S. Department of the Treasury targeted several Russian oligarchs and froze their assets due to “destabilizing activities” by these figures (including suspected interference in the 2016 U.S. election). One of the oligarchs so punished was Viktor Vekselberg, who owns the Renova Group conglomerate and its subsidiary, Columbus Nova. Columbus Nova, you may recall, is the parent company of Daybreak Games. The U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control has given Renova and other Russian companies until June 5th to “wind down operations, contracts, or other agreements” involving these figures. Between $1.5 and $2 billion assets from Vekselberg have been frozen as the result of these sanctions. It is unclear if any of Columbus Nova’s assets are part of this. Renova isn’t commenting on the … [Read more...] about Daybreak’s Russian parent company’s assets are frozen by the U.S. government
– Chinese government might ban battle royale games
As everyone in the gaming industry is talking about the glowing success of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, the Chinese government has taken notice as well. Recently, the gaming branch office of China Audio And Video And Numeral Publishing Association released an official statement about the game. To summarize, the article condemned battle royale games as having too much blood and gore, and violent content. The article even went on to compare this genre with the ancient Rome arena fights, where the singular aim of survival goes against the Republic of China’s moral principles, and negatively influences teenagers’ physical and mental health. As such, the gaming branch office sent out a warning that it will be hard to approve battle royale games to launch in China. It also recommends local companies not to develop or publish such games. At the same time, esports and livestream platforms should not promote such these games as well. It is important to note that there have … [Read more...] about – Chinese government might ban battle royale games
