If you play Heroes & Generals and your computer still operates on Windows XP, at least one of those two will no longer be the case in the coming months. The latest update to Heroes & Generals, dubbed the Zhukov Armored Ambush update, dropped today introducing new vehicles, new weapons, and various tweaks and anti-cheat updates. In addition, the folks at Reto Moto announced that this update will be the last to support Windows XP. This will be the last update supporting Windows XP. Microsoft ended their support in April 2014, so there has not been any security etc. updates for more than one and a half years. Heroes and Generals from the Danish game studio Reto Moto launched their 'Deploy! Drive! Destroy!' update this week which is being dubbed by the developer as its biggest update ever. The update rebalances more than 70 vehicles as well as introduces a new armor system to the game for vehicles. “In the ‘Deploy! Drive! Destroy!’-update we ripped out key elements of the game and rebuilt them for a richer and deeper gameplay experience. We not only wanted to make heavy tanks as badass as you would expect, we wanted to add value to ALL vehicles in Heroes & Generals and create a diverse and balanced battlefield,” tells Jacob Andersen, Game Director at RETO MOTO. Heroes & Generals features a mix of infantry, armored, and air combat, but in the latest update, Reto-Moto has tossed two of those out the window, with a new game mode that features exclusively armored warfare, vying for supremacy in a world of tanks. The Capture & Hold Tank mode is an 8v8 competition that puts all players behind the controls of tanks, with AI-controlled infantry bots toting anti-tank weapons that will help you control the single control point on the map. That map is the four-square-kilometer Arracourt, which features “a labyrinth of hedgerows, hills and small clusters of forest.” Players can bring multiple tanks to the mode, and if they run out, they can hop into a teammate’s tank to serve as a gunner.
