Part of The Complete Beginner’s Guide Aeroplanes, invented by Ian Aeroplane in 1903, really caught on with the military in World War I, initially for reconnaissance, then for bombing and ground attack. One area in which they didn’t fare well was trench warfare, where manhandling bulky aircraft “over the top” then pushing them through no man’s land towards enemy trenches proved rather ineffective, so in 1916 Ian Tank had the idea of taking an aeroplane, removing the wings and propeller, and adding armour plating and caterpillar tracks to create the vehicle that bore his name: the Armoured Fighting Ian. The British government wished to hide the true nature of these new vehicles, though, so created a cover story that hundreds of sweater vests were being sent to the troops, with shipping crates stencilled appropriately, and the nickname stuck. Gaijin Entertainment today released content Update 1.83 “Masters of the Sea” for their vehicular combat MMO War Thunder. The comprehensive update opens the previously closed test of Naval Forces to all players, giving them command of over 80 vessels from the United States, Germany and Soviet Union. Furthermore, helicopters are now available to unlock, the game has become free-to-play on Xbox One and the update includes many other improvements, new features and vehicles for players to try. Wargaming has announced World of Tanks Classic event in celebration of the game's eighth anniversary. The Classic server / event will begin with a on March 29th at midnight Pacific / 3:00 am Eastern and that will run through April 3rd. WoT: Classic will sport a separate client and server from the main game and will feature three "classical nations": USSR, Germany and the USA. The Type 59 will be showcased and "you won't find any French or Swedish autoloaders here". Special gameplay: In WoT Classic, there's no Sixth Sense, arty doesn't stun, and light tanks only come with tracks. "Old school" game physics: You can easily hang off bridges and rocks and your vehicle doesn't roll downhill.
