Last month Arenanet held a Guild Wars 2 campaign called Friend/Ships, asking players to send in their stories of forming friendly relationships in the popular MMO. The campaign brought in tons of stories from gamers who made new friends and even some who went on to tie the knot. How did the name “Friend/Ships” for the campaign come about? Elisabeth Cardy: When we first started brainstorming around this campaign, it was based on stories we’d heard of people who had met their significant other in game, but we really wanted to recognize that it’s not just romantic relationships that can have a deep impact on our lives. To that end, we were looking for a title that encompassed relationships of all sorts. Especially in English, the word “relationship” can have some hefty connotations of romance, so … [Read more...] about Arenanet Talks: Guild Wars 2 Friend/Ship Campaign

In a land of Dragons and Magic and whatever a Karka is, the enemies a player may face in Guild Wars 2 should not be taken lightly. In my previous articles I have given players some tips and knowledgeable tools to get their bearings after joining, or rejoining, the land of Tyria. In every zone in Guild Wars 2 lurks a powerful World Boss or Meta Event that requires cooperation from surrounding heroes lest their evil be left unchecked. The premise is epic, but after several years of these bosses, and only a few reworks along the way to balance the enemies, or make … [Read more...] about Returning to Guild Wars 2 – World Boss Wonderment
It’s been more than 7 months since Steven touched on PVP and metabattle. He proposed that jumping on the metabattle bandwagon could make you the PvP problem but I’ve been swinging swords on various accounts over recent months and I don’t think PvP really needs a moratorium on metabattle. Instead, this month’s PvP lets play with community partner Jebro highlighted more fundamental issues with Guild Wars 2’s competitive game. advertisement It is always great to see Jebro’s unadulterated enthusiasm for Guild Wars 2 and the community he surrounds himself with. The Engineer form the old world has been in the trenches with the PvP community since the early days of Guild Wars 2, initially starting out as a WvW commander and then progressing on to cast some of the game’s biggest PvP moments. This is a creator that carries some authority. For many of the wider Guild Wars 2 community, he is most likely the single recognizable face in a … [Read more...] about Guild Wars 2 PvP – Automated Atrophy?
