The next update to Guild Wars 2 will feature some big changes to attribute-selectable gear. The goal is to "reduce the confusion about which attribute combinations are available on any given piece of gear". Moving forward, most attribute-selectable gear will only feature attribute combinations available on a player's account dependent on the expansions owned. Exceptions to this reset include Crafted Backpacks, Elite Specialization Armor/Rewards, & Attribute combos related to raids & fractals. When the next update goes live, players will find gear attributes reset and will need to reapply combinations in inventory and on equipped gear. Crafted gear will also be tweaked for "consistency". Selections from several gear sets are being adjusted to make "it more obvious which attributes will be available in each prefix family. Attributes on gear with the Assaulter’s prefix will now have either power or ferocity as a main attribute (although no attribute combination with … [Read more...] about Attribute-Selectable Gear to be Updated in Guild Wars 2

Get Guild Wars 2 Path of FireI have had plenty of time to digest the rest of Guild Wars 2‘s A Bug in the System since the first part of my deep-dive went live, and I can’t wait to finally bring you the second half of my thoughts on the story so far. The episode was an absolute delight to play through and the creative direction for the episode really shone through. From clever mechanics to lore-rich environs, this episode really did have it all, and I just can’t wait for instalment three! In this edition of Flameseeker Chronicles, I’ll finish off my summary and appraisal of the latest story drop, including my high and low points as I wrap up. Just as with the first part, this article is best read after completion of the episode if you’re worried about spoilers, though tags will be used where needed to avoid the biggest spoilers. Where I left off Just in case you missed part one and don’t have time to catch up right now, I’ll fill you … [Read more...] about Flameseeker Chronicles: Deep-diving Guild Wars 2’s A Bug in the System (part 2)
You may already know the first version of this FAQ. I decided to rewrite it, update it and put newer screenshots in. So here is the new version. A very special thank you goes to Tasha Darke for reading through it all. I was hoping for a few bits of corrected grammar but she gave me very valuable feedback on top of that! This FAQ is mostly for those who have just recently heard of Guild Wars 2 and now want to know more. If you have been following the game for years or even just months, if you have pre-purchased the game and if you have already played it, you are welcome to read it as well, but you will find a lot of information that you already know. Since the game is still in development a lot of things are subject to change (yes, believe it or not, ArenaNet is handling the Beta Weekend Events like a real beta and is still changing things around). Also, new information comes out every now and then which might outdate what you can read here. If you notice any of that – or just … [Read more...] about Guild Wars 2: A FAQ for new players
My little rogue in Rift (Prime) is still little. Well, she is a dwarf, but she still hasn’t reached the level cap yet. Ember Isle has been released on Prime and since I never experienced this region when the level cap was at 50, I would actually really like to make it there. But levelling seems to go very slowly, so I am not sure I will get there fast enough. Don’t get me wrong: I do not complain about the slow levelling curve! I just don’t have that much time to play, so that’s why it’s taking me ages. I still enjoy levelling through the regions as the last time I did that was ages ago and Trion released things like instant adventures that made questing through the original areas basically a waste of time. I did not spend much time playing Defiance 2050 lately, because I kept having freeze frames at odd times. My whole PC froze. I have never experienced that with any other game. I did find a post from another player suggesting that turning off the shadows … [Read more...] about Summer of MMOs: Rift, Defiance, Guild Wars 2
Guild Wars 2’s newest living world episode seems to be grabbing the MMO community’s attention in a way that the season so far hasn’t. It is garnering quite a bit of praise, winning over even some of the game’s grumpier contingents. “In recent episodes I’ve gotten used to groaning or shaking my head at some of the sloppy dialog, in-jokes and all-round loose writing,” wrote MMO blogger Bhagpuss. “This time, so far, there’s been none of that. Everyone sounds like they’re taking it seriously for once, which doesn’t mean there’s no humor and no jokes but that those there are seem to derive — fairly convincingly — from the characters and the situation. It’s a relief.” Jeromai is equally effusive: “That’s perhaps the highest praise I can produce for whatever Anet is doing right in this episode, that I’m more happy to be playing and experiencing the content, than complaining or … [Read more...] about Global Chat: Does Guild Wars 2’s newest episode reach for the stars?
