A lot of critical things have been said about Pokemon Go and Niantic in the past. Professionals that tried to defend certain UI elements still had plenty of suggestions a non-professional could have made. Same goes for players and professionals that noted the need for quests. In fact, Niantic’s insistence on doing local events instead of global events created some huge PR problems, and that’s without noting that, for a social game, the game actually lacked a lot of social features. But there’s a weird thing: Niantic’s addressed many of those issues. Several are ones I’ve previously suggested. There’ve been several UI improvements, new quests, at least two events per month since February 2018 that aren’t just cash shop sales, and a push towards community building. It’s far from perfect, like the glaring omission of in-game communication or a social media connection, but we’ll ignore that for now. What I want to … [Read more...] about Generation 3 is basically Pokemon Go’s One Tamriel: How Niantic has actually improved POGO

I feel like I’ve gotten a lot done since ArcheAge launched just a few days ago. Don’t believe me? I got my homework done in a timely fashion for my journalism class, and I even managed to level in Destiny to 23 with rank 1 in the Vanguard faction. At the rate things are going, I should be level 25 by the end of the week and might even have some coveted Vanguard armor. I’ve also been able to catch up on some reading and on the overwhelming list of podcasts I subscribe to. I also can’t even describe the amount of napping I’ve gotten in. This must be a testament to ArcheAge, but rarely do I come across a game that I still want to play after sitting in a queue for an hour and a half, and that is with patron priority. By that time, I’d probably be doing something else, like fixing the neck muscles I’d strained by falling asleep in my $15 computer chair that has no back support. The more I venture into ArcheAge, the more I find things that I like. … [Read more...] about Diaries From ArcheAge: Endless Review Queue
This is the full version of entries that have been published in the last week! I just thought it might be nicer to have everything in one huge entry instead of in separate ones (either way: You can find all entries in the category labelled “rift vs. lotro vs. wow” on the right). The topic I wrote some time ago about “Rift vs. LotRO” is still getting readers almost every day. Unfortunately, it is probably not the kind of topic they were looking for. So, since I’ve played both games (at least for a little while), I thought I would make an elaborate posting about those games. I’m also going to throw in World of Warcraft because, apart from playing it as well, the big majority of MMO gamers have played the game or know something about the game, at least. :) (After starting to write this, I realised how long this entry would be in the end and decided to split it into different topics to be posted separately. So expect a posting every day for the next few … [Read more...] about Rift vs. LotRO vs. World of Warcraft – a closer look at all three MMOs (all entries in one)
Stash is the name of a Kickstarter funded, new turn-based, isometric, free-to-play PC based MMO game from developer Frogdice. Stash is the graphical successor to Frogdice’s Threshold RPG, which is their text based, role play required MUD still in operation after twenty some years (since June 1996). Stash prides itself with having a tabletop pen-and-pencil design and an old-school charm interwoven into a unique RPG and community gaming experience. The question is, with a suggestive name like “Stash” does this game really deliver the “goods”? This is our review of Stash for the PC. advertisement Stash starts out like any other MMO with a character creation process. The artwork is more on the cartoonish side with plenty of solid, vibrant colors. Race selection choices are varied where you can choose anything from human, Trulloc (think DAoC Troll), upright wolf or upright cat folk. There are a basic number of character style attributes you can … [Read more...] about Does It Deliver the Goods?
The Lost Ark Online Closed Beta offered a ton of end-game content that kept users busy throughout the whole test. I spent my last day of Lost Ark Online trying to figure out the current gear progression in order to prepare for the next test. I wanted to share my own personal findings below and the various ways to gear up along with where to hunt for the best items. It's probably not as detailed as other sites since I can't fully read Korean, but I tried my best and I hope you find the info below useful. Field Boss vs World Boss During the 1st Closed Beta players weren't bound to farming a single monster, dungeon, or area for items. Instead, they can gear up and earn Legendary grade items through various activities such as World Boss Hunting, Guardian Raiding, Hidden Scroll Dungeons, Tower of Infinity, Cube Dungeon, and more. A lot of people have been asking me about the loot system. Everyone gets and sees their own loot whether it's from a treasure chest, monster, raid, boss, etc. You … [Read more...] about STEPARU News, Reviews, Previews & Information for Foreign Games Lost Ark Online End-game Content Preview and Progression
