Dear BioWare: Gives Us The Next Dragon Age Before It’s Too Late

· July 16, 2019 · Leave a Comment

Remember when BioWare teased a little trailer at the Game Awards in December last year? That almost seemed like a lifetime ago. We got a glimpse of Solas – the much misunderstood hero turn villain in the series’s last installment Dragon Age: Inquisition. Well that was way back in 2014, and now five years on, it’s beginning to feel like a drag. Fans and players want to know where the story goes, and because the narrative has been so good in the trilogy so far (gameplay not so much), it’s only inevitable that folks would be craving for more. Furthermore, developers BioWare are not having a good 2019. Anthem has made the news for all the wrong reasons, and one might suspect that the studio is buckling under that negativity. So please BioWare, here’s why we need the next Dragon Age before it’s too late. Or, give it to another studio worthy of completing the saga. We Want To See Tevinter Let’s face it – we all adore Dorian Pavus as a companion … [Read more...] about Dear BioWare: Gives Us The Next Dragon Age Before It’s Too Late

Top 5 Reasons Why We Need A New Dragon Age In 2019

· November 30, 2018 · Leave a Comment

In case you missed the news, BioWare is about to announce something new for its Dragon Age franchise in December. Plenty of BioWare folks like Mark Darrah has been teasing a new game in recent times, but this one feels solid. Casey Hudson’s hint that the announcement in December ties in nicely to the annual Game Awards, which has been a platform for announcing new games in the past. With that in mind, we’re salivating at the thought of a new Dragon Age game for this generation of consoles and PC graphics. Here’s why we need a new Dragon Age game in 2019. We Want To See Tevinter Let’s face it – we all adore Dorian Pavus as a companion in Dragon Age: Inquisition right? Besides being openly gay and fabulous, the character adds a lot more emotional weight to the cast. More importantly, Dorian’s idle party chatter in addition to all the lore drops in-game suggests one thing. It all pointed to the Tevinter Imperium. Tevinter Imperium is the oldest extant … [Read more...] about Top 5 Reasons Why We Need A New Dragon Age In 2019

A Champion Has Risen – Thoughts On Dragon Age II

· March 24, 2011 · Leave a Comment

Note: No spoilers, until the last few paragraphs, plenty of warning forthcoming. Let me just start this post off by saying I was a huge, huge, huge, HUGE, HUGE fan of Dragon Age: Origins, so to say I was excited about Dragon Age II is the understatement of the year. Of course, there were several things I was mindful of before playing. On top of some major changes to gameplay, I knew that DA2, while set in the same world and time period as its predecessor, will also take place in a different city and center around the life and adventures of a new protagonist, Hawke. I won’t lie; there was just the teensiest twinge of disappointment when I first heard this news last year. Admittedly, so much of my enjoyment of the first game came out of my emotional investment into my human noble warrior, and the attachment I felt to her companions, the Grey Warden mythos, and Ferelden. Nevertheless, I was open to something new — change can be good, and BioWare has shown with Mass Effect that … [Read more...] about A Champion Has Risen – Thoughts On Dragon Age II

Dragon Age 2: Making Terrible Decisions And Loving It

· March 18, 2011 · Leave a Comment

I’m still currently in the middle of the second act of My Dragon Age 2 playthrough, and already the life and friendships I’ve so carefully cultivated for my Hawke are unraveling faster than a ball of cheap string. Everything is going straight to hell…but strangely, I am totally okay with this. You know, it wasn’t so long ago that the impetuous little old me would fly into a fit of rage every time something didn’t go the way I wanted them to in an RPG, and I would revert to a previous save to desperately try and salvage the situation. Needless to say, fluky outcomes and mechanics like random rolls always had a way of sticking in my craw. I was, and in some ways still am, a pretty big control freak and a stickler for perfection, and it used to drive me completely bonkers not to have a good idea of where my character’s story might be going. Not surprisingly, whenever my character would come across an important decision, I’d always agonize, … [Read more...] about Dragon Age 2: Making Terrible Decisions And Loving It

5 Things That Anthem Needs To Improve After Launch

· February 22, 2019 · Leave a Comment

Anthem is launching today and will welcome scores of new players to BioWare’s brand new RPG. While it does many things well especially with Javelins and how fun and excellent its handling and combat is, the game has numerous areas it needs improvement in. Here’s the 5 things that Anthem needs to work on post-launch. Loading Screen Interactions You’re probably sick of hearing about Anthem’s loading screens, but it has to be said.  They are still terrible even after Anthem’s Day 1 patch that supposedly reduced loading screen times. These are still a major issue for players looking to jump in and out of expeditions and being put into multiple loading screens is just a buzzkill. One way BioWare could improve this is to have its loading screens become more interactive, like being able to read Cortex entries on them the way you could in Dragon Age: Inquisition. It’s not a direct solution to solving loading times, but it at least gives players … [Read more...] about 5 Things That Anthem Needs To Improve After Launch
