Ascent: Infinite Realm or A:IR for short, is an upcoming MMORPG from both Bluehole and Kakao Games. It was announced publicly almost two years ago, and it’s currently in development. What’s interesting about this MMORPG besides the fact that it’s Korean, is that it will be Bluehole’s first major title since PUBG. Secondly, the game setting and gameplay are refreshing in terms of MMORPG, and we’ll discuss that later on. So here’s our 5 reasons why you should keep your eyes out for its release. Steampunk Airships For The Win Ascent: Infinite Realm takes place in a high fantasy steampunk world where machines and magic rule and everyone is dependent on flight to explore, travel, and conquer. In search of a new home, adventurers take to the skies using a wide selection of airships, vehicles, and flying mounts to traverse A:IR’s open, highly vertical world. So with Bless Online being at an all time low in terms of player population and participation, I felt as though now would be an opportune moment to give my feedback on everyone’s next large gamble: Ascent: Infinite Realm, or A:IR for short. Now, when Neowiz announced that Aeria Games would be publishing Bless in the West, people freaked out. “Aeria Games is known to be a heavily pay to win company that destroys their games.” Combat is something that a lot of people complained about in Revelation Online, in Bless Online.. and is probably the main redeeming feature of Black Desert Online. Graphically, A:IR looks.. well, it looks fucking fantastic. It’s eerily reminiscent of if Black Desert and ArcheAge had a secret love child that they didn’t want anyone to know about until recently. PvP takes on various forms in A:IR. Realm vs Realm PvP is at the core of the game, having players board their airships and engage the opposing team in aerial combat. … [Read more...] about Should You Play Ascent: Infinite Realm? It’s not often I play a mobile game and I say to myself, “Gee, this is not only fair, but it’s fun too,” but here I am in 2019 and pleased with a mobile card game, and it’s from Capcom to boot! Well, it’s partially from Capcom. Capcom and GungHo Online are teaming up to bring forth Teppen, an online mobile card game based on the Capcom properties, and Capcom’s treatment of their properties in the past genuinely had me worried. I just have to look back to the Marvel vs. Capcom series, and look no further. However, not only is this card game reasonable and easy to play, it has been incredibly generous with their packs (at least up to this point in time), so it’s easy to pick up. Teppen hasn’t received a lot of press or acknowledgment that I’ve seen, so let’s talk about it for a bit. What is Teppen? Teppen is a real-time strategy card game, set across a variety of Capcom properties. There aren’t a ton of characters … [Read more...] about Teppen Review – Capcom vs. Capcom Infinite
If you ever need to know why we’ll happily cover Star Wars Galaxies emulators and not Ultima Online emulators here on Massively Overpowered, the reason is very simple: SWG is dead. UO is not. And that tells you quite a bit about the different sorts of emulation and how fans can approach it, but we’re going to need a few more words to cover all of that. But before we dive wholly into that, let’s talk about Mystery Science Theater 3000. One of the interesting aspects of MST3k fandom is that there has been a sentiment around for ages, frequently put forth by the creators themselves, that fans should keep circulating the tapes of old episodes. Yes, this is for a long-running series that will also happily sell you its two-hour-long episodes in multiple formats and offer others on Netflix or Hulu, along with offering some for free on YouTube. The creators outright encourage fans to just pass along and copy some of the show’s most beloved episodes. … [Read more...] about Vague Patch Notes: MMO emulation as a paean for the dead vs. a mockery of the living
