LOTRO Update 23 Review: What We Liked And Disliked About The Where Dragons Dwell Quest Pack

· October 18, 2018 · Leave a Comment

The Lord of the Rings Online (LOTRO) has released its latest update, U23: Where Dragons Dwell and after having a week to playthrough the new content, here’s what we think! The New Narratives What’s enjoyable this update is seeing how LOTRO’s main story continues even after the destruction of the One Ring. There’s many more stories to be told and Update 23 is a good example of this. With the new update, players are pursuing several narrative threads that answers questions about what’s been happening to the other races and regions in Middle Earth while we were taking down the big baddie in Mordor. This time around, we get to learn more about the Longbeard and the Zhelruka Dwarves – two clans that couldn’t be more different from each other. On top of that, there’s a quest-line that shows us the plight of the Easterlings who’ve come to one of the new zones, the Iron Hills to find a home because of the war in Rhun. Better yet, we get … [Read more...] about LOTRO Update 23 Review: What We Liked And Disliked About The Where Dragons Dwell Quest Pack

Five Favorite MMOs

· June 19, 2013 · Leave a Comment

Tomorrow is going to end up being a super busy day for me, as I need to run a few errands for work… so I am doing this post a little differently.  I don’t feel like I will have enough time tomorrow to bang out a post like normal, so  I am working on this topic tonight.  I thought it would be interesting to do a post about my top five favorite games and why I like them so much.  I figured i would do this in count down style with fifth leading down to number one…  of course you can just cut ahead but lets pretend it is a surprise! #5- World of Warcraft I went back and forth several times on what should be my 5th spot, but as I thought about it… for sheer longevity of me playing the game, I had to give a nod to World of Warcraft.  I have essentially outgrown the game, but it does a lot of things well.  I feel like WoW is the junkfood of MMOs…  so long as you do not think about what you are doing… it is extremely … [Read more...] about Five Favorite MMOs

Massively Overthinking: Our five favorite MMORPGs of all time

· October 27, 2016 · Leave a Comment

Earlier this week, Redditor maxpower888 started an epic thread on the /r/mmorpg sub asking everyone to chime in and name his or her top five MMORPGs of all time. I thought it was a nifty thread to skim to see how many times the same games kept popping up (and the same games turned up in combination with each other). “You can tell how old people are by their lists,” one gamer objected, but I don’t think that’s necessarily true! So for this week’s Overthinking, we’re going to join in the fun, then explain our choices and puzzle out what those choices say about us — don’t forget to click the entries to expand them for explanations! You should do the same down in the comments! Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): Don’t forget to click each one for an explanation! #1: Asheron's CallI still think this is the game our genre needs to strive to return to, but in a modern way. Monthly updates with content. Developer lead but player controlled story … [Read more...] about Massively Overthinking: Our five favorite MMORPGs of all time

STO: Night Of The Comet

· November 14, 2010 · Leave a Comment

Note: Major spoilers! Even the screenies! Avert your eyes! I hope that’s adequate warning for this week’s coverage of the latest Star Trek Online feature episode, “Night of the Comet,” because I want to talk about some of the challenges it presented. In my opinion, this finale to the Devidian arc was probably the toughest of all the weeklies we’ve had so far. Looking back, having my husband with me on this week’s mission helped a lot, but I’ll get to that later. The episode began with a hail from Section 31 agent Franklin Drake, who revealed his plans to send us back to the past in order to destroy the pesky comet that’s been the cause of all this trouble with the Devidians. To travel back in time in our ships, we first had to disguise ourselves as Klingon cruisers using holo-emitters. Then we had to make our way to a secret system to utilize the series of gates there that would essentially catapult us back to the 23rd century. I … [Read more...] about STO: Night Of The Comet
