Apex Legends is a brand new free to play battle royale shooter by Respawn Entertainment. The makers of the Titanfall franchise pulled this rabbit out of the hat last week, and the game has soared in popularity. It hit 10 million players in just 72 hours, which should give Fortnite and PUBG something to think about in the long term. The game lets you play as heroes called Legends, each with their own unique skills, abilities and personalities. Therefore, here’s our take on which are the best to play. #1 Lifeline Simply put, Lifeline is probably the best and most popular Legend in Apex Legends. She’s a healer and support class first and foremost, which means every squad must have one. And for squads that don’t, you’re just making it harder for yourselves. Lifeline’s key abilities includes reviving teammates 25% faster and can place a barrier while doing so. This is a key component that should be leveraged as downed players can be finished off and then … [Read more...] about Top 5 Best Apex Legends Heroes Ranked

Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve had some tantalizing rumors and teases that both Riot Games and Blizzard are building something new: Riot’s dangled some questions about maybe making an MMORPG – might it be a League of Legends MMO? – and Blizzard’s outright said it’s returning to the Diablo franchise for multiple projects (one of which is the Switch port announced this morning). Can we hope for an MMO from one of the big studios again – and should we? That’s what we’re pondering in this week’s Massively Overthinking. Do you think either of these companies is actually working on a new MMORPG using an old IP, what might it look like if so, what are they working on if not, and what do you actually want to see happen? Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): On the Diablo side of things, I’m kind of lost. Not just because the franchise does nothing for me, but I can’t imagine multiple games coming from the IP unless … [Read more...] about Massively Overthinking: Would you want to play a League of Legends or Diablo MMORPG?

Let me be upfront: I’ve never gotten into a superhero MMO. I love comics; outside of work, it’s probably the only fiction I willingly read these days. It’s just the people I play with never got into hero MMOs, even when some of us finally tried DC Universe Online. But I read all about them. And I know you superhero MMORPG players have been kicked around. Heroic Games President and CEO Casey McGeever’s passionate about the need for the genre because of that, and that’s precisely why MMO Ship of Heroes was conceived. We’ve got superheroes everywhere these days, but as hot as the Avengers are, we’re largely given steaming piles of brown from their gaming-ignorant parent companies. So I sat down with McGeever to talk MMOs, tech, and a ship full of heroes during GDC 2018. Talking to the captain A look through McGeever’s professional history is, frankly, intimidating. It’s not that he’s a gaming legend or anything, but … [Read more...] about GDC 2018: In the crow’s nest with Ship of Heroes’ CEO Casey McGeever
