[Steam page] To be honest, we were unsure if we should post anything about this game, since we came across it randomly while browsing through Steam. But since there is online multiplayer, so why the goat not? Set to be published by Raiser Games soon, this is Goat of Duty, an upcoming “fast-paced multiplayer shooter” where every player is a goat. The story started with a freak nuclear accident that gave goats intelligence to quickly overthrow humans with their powerful rams, high jumps, and ear-blowing bleats… What the goat?! Apparently there is no real lore or story to Goat of Duty. Just armed goats going around killing every living and moving organism. No nonsense: no need to master a convoluted metagame, learn different characters, combine skills, strategic team play… just devilish combat arenas, powerful weapons, and fast-paced action. Well, and lots of silly humor, crazy goatstumes (skins), and goat mechanics to troll your friends to your heart’s … [Read more...] about – Multiplayer shooter with goats discovered on Steam

We have taken quite a few good looks at the world of massively multiplayer role-playing games on the pages of this website – so why not break the cycle for a bit today, and leave the RPG behind? While most MMOs are role-playing games today, there are plenty of them that don’t involve role-playing in the gaming sense of the word. The MMO part in the acronym refers to their “massively multiplayer” nature, meaning that they can host masses of players on their servers. This is a much wider definition of the genre, involving everything from battle royale games, which have seen a massive increase in popularity since the meteoric rise of Fortnite, among others, to FPS games, racing titles, even casual games. Let’s see a few examples from each. The MMOFPS genre is pretty popular today, although not as popular than battle royale. The acronym covers first-person shooter games that can be played on servers by large numbers of players at the same time. The list of … [Read more...] about No Role-Playing: Massively Multiplayer Online Games With No RPG Involved

Welcome to The Survivalist! Ya’ll might have noticed that I have gravitated a bit from my happy home of deep, immersive virtual worlds (possible due to the lack of them!) and have been tinkering about and enjoying time in various survival games. This isn’t as odd as you might think! One thing I love about sandbox worlds is the ability for your actions to matter in terms of shaping the world and carving out your place in it. Survival games have been allowing me just that with opportunities to build the world, from the society on it to structures in it to the even the physical world itself. And decisions definitely matter, bringing satisfaction and reward or disappointment and destruction. I’m not alone in this appreciation of the survival genre, either. Many MMO gamers have joined mainstreamers by flocking to it lately as seen by the explosion of the available games. Those of you not on board yet might be wonder just what is so alluring about a genre that has … [Read more...] about The Survivalist: Massively OP’s guide to multiplayer survival sandboxes
The video games industry is one of huge size and significance. In fact, it is now generating more revenue than the movie and music industries combined, with global video game revenue sitting at an estimated $91.5 billion, in comparison to the movie industry’s $38.6 billion (global figure) in 2016 and the music industry’s estimated $47.5 billion. It was three years ago, in 2015, that video games surpassed these two other entertainment powerhouses. Gaming encompasses a lot of different genres and platforms, from MMO games played on high-end PCs and gaming laptops to casual puzzle games played on affordable mobile devices. It’s clear that there are all manner of ways for developers to cut themselves a slice of the lucrative games industry pie and make a game that best reflects their creative talent. With so much at stake and with there being so many ways to get into the games industry, it may come as little surprise that thousands upon thousands of new games are … [Read more...] about How Do Game Developers Identify Market Trends?
