It was a pretty close call in terms of what my first task in Elite Dangerous would be for this edition of CMA, but I’m glad that exploration got the nod. Mostly because it helped me learn to crawl before learning to walk… or in more specific terms, learn to navigate the galaxy before doing literally anything else. While I did mention that I had some flight time in Elite Dangerous to get most of the basics sorted out, this first in-depth foray into the game illustrated that not all of the basics had been covered. There was still a lot to learn about basic navigation, keeping my ship topped off and managed, and delving deeper into the galaxy. As everyone does in this game, I started off in a little Sidewinder single-seat ship that I’ve affectionately named “Cheesewedge.” What I had first assumed upon starting my CMA adventure was that heading to a location would introduce me to a guide to tell me more about exploration. What happened instead was a mess of UI … [Read more...] about Choose My Adventure: Fumbling through the stars of Elite Dangerous

Before I begin, a bit of a program note for this edition of CMA: I kind of had to break from the voting selections this round. As the title suggests, I still ran plenty of missions in Star Citizen as per your request. I wasn’t, however, able to do them behind the controls of a Prospector. My benefactor friend Ichi apparently had surprise visitors during the weekend for the holidays and so we weren’t able to touch base, which is completely understandable all things considered. Even so, there were lots of missions and even more weird bugs for me to ram face first in to. Before I could head to the mobiGlas section that showed me missions up for grabs, I had an update to install. Patch 3.4.1 arrived the week prior, which ended up being a bit of a boon by virtue of the fact that all of my finances reset. This meant that I could get myself some equipment again in a bid to be prepared for whatever dangers I faced. Turns out the dangers I would run into were more of the technical … [Read more...] about Choose My Adventure: Star Citizen’s missions and their bugs
Guild Wars 2’s newest living world episode seems to be grabbing the MMO community’s attention in a way that the season so far hasn’t. It is garnering quite a bit of praise, winning over even some of the game’s grumpier contingents. “In recent episodes I’ve gotten used to groaning or shaking my head at some of the sloppy dialog, in-jokes and all-round loose writing,” wrote MMO blogger Bhagpuss. “This time, so far, there’s been none of that. Everyone sounds like they’re taking it seriously for once, which doesn’t mean there’s no humor and no jokes but that those there are seem to derive — fairly convincingly — from the characters and the situation. It’s a relief.” Jeromai is equally effusive: “That’s perhaps the highest praise I can produce for whatever Anet is doing right in this episode, that I’m more happy to be playing and experiencing the content, than complaining or … [Read more...] about Global Chat: Does Guild Wars 2’s newest episode reach for the stars?

The answer is pretty obvious: They know some tricks you don't know. It's not just enough to use WordPress, you need to know some hacks that can often make all the difference. 1. Use Plugins With Care While the use of plugins is a necessity as far as WordPress is concerned, we shouldn't install all 49,000 on our site. So, how many of them should you add? Well, it's always a better practice to install a few really important ones rather than making your site look like a dumping ground for all kinds of plugins. But why care about the number of plugins? In case you don't know, adding too many plugins to a site comes with a price. Some of the problems to expect include page speed problems, incompatibility with other plugins problems, and maybe even being entirely shut out of your blog. Incompatibility issues will periodically make your important plugins stop functioning and/or produce errors because another plugin is forcing it to malfunction. If that malfunctioning plugin is a … [Read more...] about 4 Crucial Things You Need To Know When Using WordPress
