Unfortunately, there aren’t many exciting news about housing changes on the horizon, if at all. The most important change at the moment is that the chests available in your personal house will get more expensive when the expansion hits in a few days on November 18. This only counts for housing chests that haven’t been bought yet! Let me elaborate. At the moment, when you get a deluxe house, you can unlock two housing chests which can be used for storing items. The first costs 100 silver, the second one costs 500 silver. Each of those chests can hold up to 30 items which means that you get 60 slots for 600 silver. When Helm’s Deep arrives on November 18, the chests will be changed to “storage slots”. If you already bought your chests, don’t worry, you will keep those 60 slots. If you haven’t bought them yet, you will have to pay 1 gold for the first 15 slots, 5 gold for the next 15 slots, 25 gold for 15 more and 125 gold for the last 15 slots to … [Read more...] about Lotro: Buy your housing chests before Helm’s Deep arrives!

Play SMITE for freeThe latest event for SMITE, Hera’s Odyssey, is now live on the game’s public test servers, allowing players to preview and test the event before it goes live with update 5.17. Over the course of the events, players will gain Odyssey levels by accumulating Odyssey points, which are earned by completing specific quests and/or by buying Odyssey items from the in-game shop. With every three Odyssey levels players earn, they’ll be granted a free item as a reward. Players can also earn collection bonus items through quests. I think any MMO veteran has a private list of prematurely canceled games that he or she deeply wishes had been completed and launched. I wish we lived in a world where Project Copernicus was a joyous fantasy world rather than a sour news story or where Interplay had free reign to make Fallout Online. But perhaps one of the greatest “could have been’s” is also rarely discussed these days due to the passage of time: Ultima X Odyssey. The second proposed sequel to Ultima Online showed true promise, an intriguing morality system, and an art style that still holds up today. The more I’ve learned about it over the years, the more I mourn the fact that it died before it was ever born. So what made this game so special? What are we missing today by not having it? The “X” stands for “please don’t let it suck” With Ultima Online, a popular but … [Read more...] about The Game Archaeologist: Ultima X Odyssey
