This week week in MMO crowdfunding, we’ve got some sad news from MMO space colonization sim 3001SQ: Development on the game has been halted indefinitely. Gamers will recall that the game went to Kickstarter back in 2016 but was unsuccessful at funding there; it then carried on with production anyway. But a game representative told me this week that the devs have since parted ways and will be finding new placement with other MMO companies, so we won’t be losing their insight, though it’s unlikely we’ll ever see 3001SQ itself. Over in Star Citizen land, folks are still shaking their heads over the predictable postponement of some of the content originally the planned December patch, but at least there’s something to do: Alpha 3.3.5 has made its way to the Evocati PTU testers, while alpha 3.3.0 hit the live server as scheduled. I’m a child of the 80’s and 90’s, and as such, played a considerable amount of SNES. One of my all time favorite games for SNES, for its music, its style, and its playability, was Rock n’ Roll Racing. To be honest, Blizzard’s brief foray into the racing genre was probably on par with the original Super Mario Kart for sheer fun factor. Imagine my delight then on seeing Hoplon Games’ new free-to-play release, Heavy Metal Machines. You can see the influence of the old classic Rock n’ Roll Racing in Heavy Metal Machines without even trying, and better yet, they even got the original announcer, Larry Huffman, to do the announcing on the new game, and it’s glorious! 5.13 is the Mid-Season Update for SMITE, and boy is it a huge one! There’s a lot of love for supports here, from EXP to awesome skins! There’s the return of masks, a commendation system, and since there’s simply so much to talk about, we’re focusing primarily on the new/changing features. This is also a disclaimer since I know there are bound to be changes/adjustments to the exact numbers of this update, so this is a bit of a prelude.
