Businesses these days are about volumes. More the number of new entrants in all markets, more volumetric the game becomes. Volumes entice “self manufacturing” which in turn helps to develop a larger market using other business verticals. The question is, should you try to become self sustainable just yet? I often speak with brand owners, marketers, suppliers about sales & sales margins, marketing & marketing ROI, brand positioning & branding. The effectiveness of the conversation depends largely on the “authenticity” or decision-making authority of the “connect” in the organization. If you may recall, we did a post on Google plus about the man who charged $1000 for fixing a ship by just hitting with a hammer at the “right spot”. Well, it is not always that you can walk away with that kind of money, but even conversations or “negotiations” work much in this way. If you do not know where you are … [Read more...] about The key to Successful Business

Update (June 27, 2017): The developer seems to have gone MIA. The last post in the game’s Steam Communiy Hub was posted on April 30, 2017. Before that, there were several posts each week. No further patches have happened, no replies on Twitter etc. either. Please consider this if you’re interested in the game! Folk Tale has been in development and in Steam Early Access for a long time already and this is where a lot of the negative reviews are coming from. The developer, GamesFoundry, has steadily been working on the game and there have been regular updates (game updates as well as communication!) in all that time (please note: I’m using the experimental build which gets updated even more often). So I personally never thought the game to be abandoned (but I do understand people getting impatient). However, this is not going to be the focus of my blog post. What has been or what will be one day isn’t important if you are now sitting here wondering: Should I … [Read more...] about Folk Tale: Where is it now? (March 2017)

For me, games that interest me start being “worth it” below 15 € if they’re new(ish) and below 10 for older games… very old ones below 5. Don’t ask me why, that’s just an arbitrary number that my brain decided is a good anchor. First things first: Folk Tale is in Early Access on Steam. It has been in development for a very long time (okay, “long” is subjectively used here) which is also because the developers changed the direction of the game and are making it a sandbox game with editors for us players to use and create our own maps and scenarios. My readers may remember seeing the topic of “Folk Tale” pop up here from time to time. In fact, it seems that I write about this game about once a year (June 2013, February 2014 part 1 and February 2014 part 2 – and then May 2015 now). The … [Read more...] about Folk Tale – Is it worth it now?
