Quite simply, they’re bad news, and hard to justify. Don’t get me wrong; I think it’s great that game designers are still freely experimenting with special events and timing, but when you’re planning an in-game holiday intended to be enjoyed by everyone, then 1) announcing a one-time-only event, and 2) not giving any details about what to expect is probably one of the quickest, easiest ways to alienate and piss off a bunch of your players. … [Read more...] about How Do You Feel About One-Time-Only Events?

I know you folks are probably tired of hearing me gush about SL, horses and Bento avatars, so I’ve decided to reopen my old Second Life blog at the original URL to chronicle my discoveries there. While I can’t see myself breeding a whole lot, considering how broke I am, I have a lot of ideas on things to write about aside from just the pets. … [Read more...] about Second Life: Finding Water Horse
But let’s talk some more positivity! Leona, my dear sweet Leona saw a slight upgrade, with Eclipse having a Cooldown Reduction at higher ranks. I max Eclipse early anyway, so this is beautiful (14 seconds ⇒ 14/13/13/11/10 seconds). Sion has an interesting change, with his Soul Furnace giving a little more health now. The Maximum Health gained from enemies goes from 3 to 4, and larger enemies now go from 10 to 15 health gained. Nautilus‘ Titan’s Wrath changed a little as well. The overall base shield was reduced at early levels (65/70/75/80/85 ⇒ 60/70/80/90/100), and the Shield Scaling also got lowered just a little (9/11/13/15/17% maximum health ⇒ 9/10/11/12/13% maximum health). These were already incredibly strong in the early game if you ask me. While the duration went down to 6 seconds (from 10), the insane 18-second cooldown also lowered (down to 12). With the 18 second cooldown, it’s necessary for it to … [Read more...] about League of Legends – 8.16 Patch Notes Discussion
Load and render times are a little more problematic to test then frame rates. Despite this, we don’t need a system that can measure down to milliseconds. We simply need to pinpoint pain issues. To this end, we took to the Path of Fire for this test. We performed a waypoint jump from Lion’s Arch to the city of Amnoon and timed the time taken from clicking the Amnoon waypoint until the cityscape finished rendering. This was repeated multiple times to ensure no issues or errant problems with the load times and compared, again, to the time to travel back to Lion’s Arch. The Number you will see here is a rounded average. Remember, we aren’t looking for the greatest precision, simply an indicator of performance bottlenecks. … [Read more...] about Guild Wars 2 Is Slow…. Is It Time for a New PC?
If you have played several games developed by Perfect World, you would have noticed there is this similarity across all of its MMORPG titles, which includes tons of gameplay features, extravagant pets and mounts, and just this… “Perfect World” vibe. There is no exception in Forsaken World. The only key issue which bugged me is how the game keeps throwing discount bundles and offers at players shamelessly, to the point where it is close to harassment. There is also the Prestige system, which is actually the old-school VIP, a feature which certainly needs to be removed for any western launch. Stay tuned for news! … [Read more...] about – PC MMORPG dives into the mobile world for a second time
