Speaking for myself, yesterday just so happened to be a lazy, rainy Sunday and I had some free time in the afternoon. But I’m aware not everyone was that lucky. Australians and folks in Asia were setting alarms to wake up in the wee hours in the morning on a freakin’ work day, and a lot of East Coasters in the US were out shopping for supplies and preparing for the Frankenstorm. Come on, people, we’re living and gaming in an international community! There’s also conflicts and unforeseen circumstances that can always pop up! Crap happens! When you know full well that everyone and their mother is going to want to participate, why still consider one-shot events? … [Read more...] about How Do You Feel About One-Time-Only Events?

These attempted to be more lifelike, and had a racing and training system built into the breedable. Looking back at the manual on their website, apparently you had to pay to be certified to race or train, however. I haven’t heard much about these horses lately, and I have no idea on the status of this brand. … [Read more...] about Second Life: Finding Water Horse
Despite this being a mostly “cleanup” patch, in the wake of the mid-season update, a fair amount of champions still got buffed and nerfed in League of Legends. There are quite a few that stood out perhaps a bit more than they should, and tanks (shock! awe! wonderment!) received buffs! A nice chunk of tanks got some love, which makes me absolutely delighted. I also learned that a four-week alpha for the Nexus Blitz (a new experimental game mode), which is coming soon after this patch. It apparently was very popular on the PBE, and so there should be a link in the official patch notes to more information on the Nexus Blitz mode. As per usual, I’m not going to highlight every single iteration of these patch notes, just the stuff that I personally find most fascinating. I want to start with the most important part of the team, Tanks, but before that, some minor adjustments to be aware of. Heal is getting a cooldown decrease, which I think is a wonderful idea! I … [Read more...] about League of Legends – 8.16 Patch Notes Discussion
Really, the way in which the frame rate and load times succumbed to the removal of any discrete GPU support tells its own tale. Guild Wars 2 might be known in the community as a processor intensive game but past a certain point, we saw little difference with even the shadow desktop slowing off. If your processor is not maxed out then there are a ton of other limitations that are going to cause slowness. Slow load times are subject to a number of components and low frame rates also seem to be impacted summarily, but yet pound for pound the most efficient change that impacted multiple areas of performance was switching on a mid-tier graphics card. Like I said earlier, MMOs are complex beasts and taming their performance is hard, and we have even talked about networking yet. … [Read more...] about Guild Wars 2 Is Slow…. Is It Time for a New PC?
First, the obvious negative from the start includes the gender and race-locked classes. I am not so much into this feature, since the limitation is to make sure Forsaken World is not 10 GB in size and cause massive lag on the battlefields since the connection has to render so many different characters. It makes up with the typical in-depth character customization feature though. I do know a little lore about Forsaken World (PC version), and apparently this new mobile version is a prequel as we see the founding fathers of each race. Cool! … [Read more...] about – PC MMORPG dives into the mobile world for a second time
