But what does this all mean? It occurred to me that dynamic, truly spontaneous events with persisting and enduring consequences that will change the game world are still possibly a long ways off. After all, can’t an impromptu, extemporaneousness event which can cause our actions to alter our surroundings permanently for everybody arguably be perceived as a one-time-only event? As much as we ask for it, as temptingly awesome as it sounds, even if it were technologically achievable, player resistance will probably be a significant obstacle. As gamers, none of us like to be left out or miss anything in our favorite MMOs. And really, who can blame us? … [Read more...] about How Do You Feel About One-Time-Only Events?

However, again, each of these horses are objects that you have to place on the ground in SL. This means you have to have permission on the land to rez them to bring them out. You also have to keep them fed (which costs money and requires land and prims to place them), or they can get sick and go out of commission. There are perma-pet options that allow you to keep the horse object without having to feed them, but that differs based on the brand. … [Read more...] about Second Life: Finding Water Horse
There are also some Rune Changes, focused on the Burst Runes that I want to highlight. The worst offenders are absolutely ruining the pacing of the game and the overall lethality of the Rune System/the game at large. Before we get to the methodology, we need to be clear that everything has limitations. With time constraints involved, we decided to use a range of real-life hardware rather than virtualize all the testing. With a virtualized system we would find definite granular control of CPU, memory, and disk resources but it does have a few downsides. The ease with which we can change out the underlying hardware, throttle GPU utilization, and hot-swap hard drives made a compelling case for using local hardware. We might very well see some perception issues due to the incredibly complex network configuration involved in delivering an MMORPG. Bearing all this in mind let’s get onto the plan of attack. … [Read more...] about Guild Wars 2 Is Slow…. Is It Time for a New PC?
First, the obvious negative from the start includes the gender and race-locked classes. I am not so much into this feature, since the limitation is to make sure Forsaken World is not 10 GB in size and cause massive lag on the battlefields since the connection has to render so many different characters. It makes up with the typical in-depth character customization feature though. I do know a little lore about Forsaken World (PC version), and apparently this new mobile version is a prequel as we see the founding fathers of each race. Cool! … [Read more...] about – PC MMORPG dives into the mobile world for a second time
