Play LOTRO for freeLast week’s GenCon in Indy turned out to be a surprising source of information for fans of Standing Stone Games. First we found out that DDO is working on a Sharn expansion, and now we have received even more information on Lord of the Rings Online’s future projects. The next big patch for the game is the Grey Mountains update, which MMO Central reports will be “more instance-heavy” than usual. The dev team also talked about making some cool dragons, Minas Morgul, and “eventually” the region of Harad. “The other thing I like about Grey Mountains, it really talks about Dwarven lore,” said Executive Producer Rob Ciccolini, “so it’s a big area for Dwarves, you see bits and pieces of ancient sort of dwarf architecture there which is kind of interesting because he haven’t done as much of that since Mines of Moria.” Other topics included female Dwarves (they might be coming — or might not!), … [Read more...] about Lord of the Rings Online hypes up dragons, 64-bit client, and Minas Morgul

Camelot Unchained talks 64-bit client, animations, and class building in beta
Camelot Unchained’s 64-bit client officially a go, folks. “As of now, the client is full 64-bit, and should be the default client launched,” CSE’s Tyler Rockwell says in the game’s latest community update. “As some of you have already noticed, this has resulted in notable gains in client stability, and some people have reported improved performance. However, it’s not bug-free by any means, yet! We do have some fixes that came in yesterday evening from [Technical Director] Andrew [Meggs], and hopefully that should put us in a great position for more testing.” The weekly update further recaps work on the ability builder, teases how the animation system will allow “new, non-Human races,” and shows off the glowy WIP skill icons. CU’s monthly newsletter also arrived this weekend; it runs down the current state of character models and animations and explains (in deep detail) the design process for creating a class in the game. … [Read more...] about Camelot Unchained talks 64-bit client, animations, and class building in beta
64 Bit Client Is Coming To The Lord of The Rings Online In March
The Lord of the Rings Online recently shared their 2019 Producer’s Letter and one of the major features coming this year is the 64 bit client. Standing Stone Games have assured players that the client is indeed coming in March 2019 with a beta, and is currently in testing. The new 64 bit client will do much to improve optimization overall for players running modern graphics cards in their rigs. The letter also discusses upcoming improvements to LOTRO, including re-balancing class, content difficulty and Virtues. The latter is going to be interesting, as the Virtue system which allows players to slot additional stats and buffs have been stale for a number of years making them almost irrelevant. 2019 aims to change that, and existing virtue ranks will be converted to a new systems where they earn ranks and provide small benefits when slotted. These changes will allow players more choice when earning Virtue benefits. In addition, the Lord of the Rings Online also plans to revamp its … [Read more...] about 64 Bit Client Is Coming To The Lord of The Rings Online In March
