Star Trek Online Enters The Age of Discovery This Fall Today, Perfect World Entertainment Inc., a leading publisher of free-to-play MMORPGs, and Cryptic Studios announced Star Trek Online will follow Star Trek: Discovery into the binary star system with the multi-part adventure, Age of Discovery. Starting this fall, the PC version of the free-to-play MMORPG based on the iconic Star Trek universe will release the first installment of a continuing saga centered on the popular CBS All Access television series. Star Trek Online is launching its next major update, Age of Discovery, this fall on the PC, and shortly afterwards on consoles. This update allows players to create a Federation Captain from the Discovery era and introduces a brand new starting experience along with 2 new Episodes which are available to all. Other updates include an expansion to the game's reputation system and a new Task Force Operation. Age of Discovery opens in the year 2256, just after the Battle at the Binary Stars. In the wake of a brutal war against the Klingons, Starfleet Captains now face J’Ula, matriarch of the House of Mo’Kai and sister of T’Kuvma, who seeks to alter the destiny of the Alpha Quadrant. Players must rely on the help of fellow Starfleet Academy Cadet Sylvia Tilly (voiced by Mary Wiseman), who has come home to assist with training and see them off on their first assignment. Star Trek Online keeps giving me reasons to hop back into the captain’s chair. This long weekend saw the release of two remastered episodes and I thought I’d take some time to share some thoughts and screenshots — because some of the new changes the devs have made to “Diplomatic Orders” and “Doomsday Device” areseriously neat. Diplomatic Orders Not surprised at all that this was one of the episodes that got remastered, since in my opinion it was always one of the best missions in the game. In fact, “Diplomatic Orders” was also the first episode I did again when the rerun feature got put into the game, way back when. The story has since been updated, with new cutscenes and voice overs. Just a couple of highlights — I absolutely adore the new Vulcan. The environmental tweaks to it are especially impressive — lines making up the landscape are much smoother, easier on the eyes, and looks more natural.
