Do you want to have a bank account in the U.S.A? Do you know if you are earning money in US dollars, having a U.S. bank account may help you save huge money. Furthermore, if you incorporate a company in the U.S. (anybody in the world can do this without physically being in the U.S.), you will remove the biggest headaches of restrictions imposed by many online services that exist in developing countries. You might not know any of this, so let me first give you a little background of what I’m talking about. After that, what you are about to learn might change the way you do business online. Having a registered company helps you do more global business. If you are someone who lives in a developing country, you are probably aware of certain restrictions and limited opportunities when doing business online. If your company is registered in a developed country (like the U.S., Singapore, or Japan), you will be able to engage in business activities with anyone around the world, and a … [Read more...] about How I Opened A Bank Account In The USA From India: Stripe Atlas Experience

This is part 2 of the “Housing in MMOs” series. Part 1 was looking at Lord of the Rings Online. Today’s MMO is Aion. This blog post was largely written by thevalliant and edited by me in some parts. While I did play around with my free studio in Aion, I really don’t know that much more about housing in the game, so I asked somebody who does. When reading this article, please keep in mind that we both play on the European servers which are handled by Gameforge while the US servers are still handled by NCsoft. There may be differences in details like item shops, etc. between those two versions. There are 5 types of residences in Aion: studios, houses, mansions, estates and palaces, in order of grandeur. These can be found in three areas for each race (Elyos and Asmodians): two ‘contested’ areas (where PvP may occur) and one ‘neutral’ area, that is the main ‘residential area’ for each race, Oriel (Elyos) and Pernon (Asmodians). … [Read more...] about Housing in MMOs: Aion
The first parts of this series were posted a long time ago, but I recently stumbled over one of them again and figured I should add Wildstar to this list. If you are wondering what games have been covered here before: Lord of the Rings Online, Aion, Rift and Everquest 2. For Aion, I got help from thevalliants and the post for Everquest 2 was written by Rakuno, as I did not play nearly enough to even start writing about the housing system in Everquest 2. If I had to rate the housing, I would put Wildstar slightly below Rift with Rift being my number 1. I cannot properly rate Everquest 2, as I never played it enough to properly judge that system well enough. I think seeing how old the game is, though, and how I didn’t like being restricted in access to the auction house etc. without paying a monthly fee, I would still rate it lower than Rift and Wildstar, simply because I think getting items for my housing project (or the money to buy said items) is easier in … [Read more...] about Housing in MMOs: Wildstar
Play Final Fantasy XIVPatch 4.1 arrived in Final Fantasy XIV, and the Shirogane housing rush came and went exactly how everyone familiar with the game had been expecting for months on end. The plots available sold out in a matter of minutes, the people who were lucky enough to get in ahead of the queues were the ones who got new houses, and everyone else was left to rant and rave. Frankly, it all worked great, technically speaking; there were no sudden disconnections, no horrid lag spikes, no zone crashes, nothing. Everything worked exactly as it was supposed to and nothing broke, which means that by definition, nothing went wrong. Well, unless you count shining a harsh light on the game’s horribly misguided housing design as “something going wrong.” A lot of discussions about this seem to be missing the point. It’s not that what happened with Shirogane housing was a disaster; it was a model of efficiency and the game working as intended. Calling it a disaster … [Read more...] about Wisdom of Nym: Final Fantasy XIV has a serious housing problem for basically no reason
You see that picture up there? That’s me standing next to a housing placard for nearly 3 hours, camping a housing plot that’s on a timer. Yes, I already went through this once, for my own private estate. This time, it was for a Free Company house. I didn’t actually plan on getting housing this weekend, though we’d reached the proper rank. I was saving up for it (went broke buying my own house and working on decorating an alt’s apartment), which meant I ended up breaking down and selling off my stash of Jet Black Dye to fund things. The Fight for Housing Mateus is one of those servers where getting housing means you snag whatever lot you possibly can, often while fighting off others who are also trying to click the same placard for how many ever hours it takes before the timer drops off. This timer thing is the bane of my existence, seriously. On Saturday night, there were only two lots open on the server. One was a pool-side in the Goblet, which a whole … [Read more...] about FFXIV: Mateus Housing Savage – Round 2!
