I think some stories benefit from an open ending, while others suffer from a conspicuous lack of closure. Personally, I’ve always felt Revan’s story falls in the latter category. Whether you agree with me or not, it’s still sort of a moot point — because I can’t imagine that even the most casual fans of BioWare and their games really didn’t see this one coming. Nothing screamed “To be continued!” louder to me than the ending of Knights of the Old Republic, and I never believed for a second they were going to leave this doozy alone. BioWare’s simply been biding their sweet time and waiting…waiting for something like SWTOR for the perfect chance to finally explore the mystery of Revan. … [Read more...] about SWTOR: OMG I Love Drew Karpyshyn!

A telltale sale The Cartel Market managers put nearly everything that has ever been on the Cartel Market back onto the Cartel Market yesterday. Armor sets, like the Carth Onasi set, to droid companions, like the probe droid, are on sale right now. They all fall into a reasonable cost based on their marker rarity. For me that means, they run 100 to 1,000 more Cartel Coins than they are worth. But that is what it is, and nothings going to change that. Over the coming months, we’ll bring you more details about the planet and offer more insight about the conflict.” … [Read more...] about Hyperspace Beacon: What will we see on SWTOR’s ‘ancient Jedi world’?
Also, if you’re looking to level up some alts in anticipation of Onslaught’s arrival, you can do so with a double XP event, running from July 23 to Aug. 20. That will still give you a couple of weeks to take a break until Onslaught’s launch in September. Or, you know, you can level up another alt. … [Read more...] about SWTOR Will Make Old Expansions Free When Onslaught Arrives
Just listen to Schubert’s presentation at GDC 2012. He talks in depth about the issues that he ran into while building the game around the expectation that it would be a game with a heavy story. I don’t believe that much of his advice was very sound because many existing and successful MMOs were doing the things he was telling BioWare not to do, but I don’t believe that BioWare would have even listened to that advice if there wasn’t already bad advice and direction being given to BioWare by its adoptive parent studio. In fact, given the timeline, I wouldn’t be surprised if Schubert’s hiring was a direct influence of EA over the studio. … [Read more...] about Hyperspace Beacon: Why SWTOR failed EA
