The latest Fortnite patch notes are up and they have something kind of interesting for Battle Royale players. Apparently, it’s time to go treasure hunting… literally. There’s a map with a red “X” and everything. The update introduces a map that allows players to track down buried chests on the map. These maps are found in floor loot and chests and will lead players to a collection of legendary loot. Also included with this update is the Slide Duos limited time mode. In this mode, everyone wears ice blocks on their feet and have access to an infinite amount of ammo Grapplers. …You can see where this is going, right? Of course, the update also includes news stuff for Creative and Save the World. In Creative, players will now be able to use more sprays on their island. Save the World, on the other hand, mostly received a variety of fixes in various areas. A full rundown on the changes to all three modes is available on the Fortnite site. … [Read more...] about Hunt For Buried Treasure In Fortnite Battle Royale

Last month, Fortnite Battle Royale rolled out its online tournament system with the Fall Skirmish series, which has since come to a close, but competitive Fortnite players have plenty more to look forward to, as Epic Games has just announced the Winter Royale tournament series. Since the online tournament system “will be used next year to determine participants in the Fortnite World Cup,” the Winter Royale series will serve as a test event “that will emulate the World Cup Qualification process.” Despite being a test event of sorts, however, the Winter Royale series still has plenty of prizes on offer for competitive players: “The Solo test events will consist of two parts, the Winter Royale Qualifiers and the Winter Royale Finals, which will have a total of $1,000,000 in prizes up for grabs.” The Qualifiers will be held from November 24th to November 25th, during which players will compete to earn the highest scores and to try to secure their spots … [Read more...] about Fortnite Battle Royale announces Winter Royale online tournament series
Woah, okay, so this happened. No shock to you guys, I was not a fan of Fortnite. I was suuuuper hyped for it to come out, and then extremely bothered by the awful execution and delivery. I might actually have a reason to... install Fornite again? Graev and an email this afternoon containing information about a new Fortnite Battle Royale mode. Here's what they said: Fornite Battle Royale is currently available on the public test server, and will release to the public September 26, 2017. I'm wondering if this will scratch an itch for a game that's less camping-intense and action-deprived than PUBG. Building, breaking things, and zany combat might be exactly what I need for a Battle Royale. This appears way less twitch and 'gotta get the one-shot headshot' than PUBG, which means I might suck less than normal. I am absolutely going to try this out and get back to you guys. … [Read more...] about Fortnite: Battle Royale
The Battle Royale genre turned from a niche game mod to industry leader in just one year. Playerunknown's Battlegrounds, developed by Bluehole, blazed that trail and hit a peak of 3.2 million concurrent players earlier this year. But what turned Battle Royale into a genre rather than a single hit was how quickly Epic Games was able to spin out their own version: Fortnite Battle Royale. Despite being second out the gate, Fortnite has managed to surpass PUBG by hitting 3.4 million concurrent users earlier this month. Despite being free to play, Fortnite has rakes in over $80 million USD per month according to Superdata Research. That places both PUBG and Fortnite on the list of top 10 highest grossing PC games. The only genre that has more entries in the top 10 is the MMORPG itself. Other studios were quick to realize to potential in this new genre. Games like Paladins and Warframe quickly announced their own Battle Royale modes. These and other Battle Royale games like Darwin Project … [Read more...] about The Weekly Raid: Are Battle Royale Games A Fad?
