Put the pedal to the metal, shift into overdrive, and get ready to use all your other racing cliches, because there’s a “new” free-to-play Forza game on PC! The game in question is Forza Street, a rebranding of the game formerly known as Miami Street, and it’s available for free on the Windows Store for Windows 10 machines. Forza Street is a single-player title that puts you behind the wheel of everything “from classic muscle to modern sports and retro supercars” and offers speedy one-minute races and an immersive story mode. There was a TED talk that was given by a doctor from Harvard Medical School, Atul Gawande. In his talk titled 'How do we heal medicine?'  he says that the answer to performing successful surgeries on a continuous basis was using Checklists. An important piece of content from the video talks about the power of using a checklist. We implemented this checklist in eight hospitals around the world, deliberately in places from rural Tanzania to the University of Washington in Seattle. We found that after they had adopted it the complication rates fell 35 percent. It fell in every hospital it went into. The death rates fell 47 percent. This was bigger than a drug. This was so powerful and useful that he made a book about it, called the Checklist Manifesto. Checklists are like recipes in cooking, if we follow it to the T, we cannot go wrong. This weekend, Amazon’s Mobile Masters esports tournament kicks off in Seattle where the top Power Rangers: Legacy Wars players do battle for a 20,000 dollar prize. Before the final match, however, Street Fighter pros Justin Wong (Seven-time EVO World Champion), Filipino Champ (2012 EVO World Champ) and Marn (Tatsunoko vs. Capcom EVO Champion) will battle three of the Power Rangers Legacy Wars players in Peter Sudarso (member of the current Power Rangers Cast), Jonathan Snow (Hyper RPG Tournament Champion) and DTPNIGHT7 (Top 8 in Mobile Masters 2017). Ship of Heroes is following up its roadmap and immersive NPC AI discussion with a video that puts the content progress into perspective. “Immersion is a key element in any videogame,” Heroic Games’ Casey McGeever explains. “It’s rare for multiplayer-focused games to have a modern, urban setting that is not a dystopian ruin or an empty PVP battlefield. In the Ship of Heroes setting, immersion is powerfully enhanced by having NPCs, cars, trains, and player heroes mingling on the city streets.” And it’s a lot of NPCs – apparently, the latest tests include up to 300 player toons plus NPCs on-screen with no FPS drop, which is pretty damn important in a superhero MMORPG where beating up piles of baddies is a key feature. “That’s not [just] 300 unique actors in the game at the same time,” McGeever cautions. “It’s 300 on the screen.” Check out the whole video below, then stay tuned for the separate … [Read more...] about Ship of Heroes’ latest video demos city street immersion on the spaceship
