Welcome to our beginner's guide to EverQuest progression servers! The point of this guide is simple: Help new(er) players start and have fun on a new Everquest progression server. This guide is not crunching any numbers or going into end-game mechanics. We won't even be min/maxing. This is for beginners, and meant as a starting point to begin your adventure. MMORPG fresh start progression and limited time servers isn’t a new concept. Over the last couple of years however, the idea of introducing brand new servers where players start again in established games are coming to life. EverQuest and EQ II have been doing it for years. Players pay a monthly fee to play on fresh servers where they get to experience the journey again. In some cases, 18 years after completing it the first time. That nostalgia can be monetized, so here were are in 2019, with many other MMORPGs doing the same. RIFT in 2018 released Prime, Lord of the Rings Online did their Legendary Servers, and even Anarchy Online has joined in – all requiring monthly fees to play on these new servers. In a blog post today, Life is Feudal MMO has announced it will go free to play (F2P), along with a host of patch notes. Writing on the blog, the team states, “If you have been around during our last AMA, then you probably know already, that we planned to switch to a new F2P model, that would give even more opportunities for newcomers.” In addition to the F2P news, it was revealed that every new member of the community will receive a Ticket to Abella and a 3 days of Premium subscription. The team goes on to thank its community for their support, “We also would like to take a moment and say a heartfelt thank you to all our veterans, who was supporting daily, from the beginning of LIF history — you guys… are breathtaking. Everyone loves the David versus Goliath story where the underdog prevails against the powerful bully. Unfortunately, real life isn’t like that. In reality, the small guy usually loses against the big guy. In the world of video games, something similar happened recently. A couple of weeks ago a private emulated World of Warcraft Burning Crusade server called Felmyst was shut down after the developer Gummy received a letter from Blizzard lawyers threatening legal action. The server took four year to develop and was a labor of love for Gummy who is unemployed due to his battle with muscular dystrophy which is an extremely debilitating uncurable disease.
