Media personalities are insane. They are digitized egos yearning for validation in the black hole of opinion. No light escapes, but sometimes there’s a paycheck—unless the writers busy learning to code. Video game critics (who will be called by their appropriate designation, “bloggers”) arguably exhale the largest gravity sucking spheres of nonsense. Either their editorial meetings race to the bottom of worst ideas, or the bloggers themselves are genetically predisposed to take quests from the worst kind of beliefs. Anyway, thank goodness Gawker Media still employs enough of these dupes or I might not be typing again. The latest craze in the land of complaining surrounds game difficulty, spawning meme protoplasm I’m happy knowing nothing about. The general idea is this: some games are too hard and therefore need an easy mode. It doesn’t end there. Not only are some games too hard, but their rock-hard hardness is a detriment to the gaming industry. … [Read more...] about A Polemic On Making Hard Games Easy

In the end, one of the biggest shames of the whole 38 Studios fiasco is that the MMORPG it was creating and the people who were making it were overshadowed by how it all came to an end in a spectacularly public affair. The Dream Team When you’re a rich and famous former all-star Major League Baseball pitcher, what do you do when you retire from the game? For Red Sox’ Curt Schilling, the answer was to set up your … [Read more...] about The Game Archaeologist: Project Copernicus
The Arknights Awakening Alpha test started last week and I was glad that I was able to sneak my way into the test. A lot of people didn't really expect a Tower Defense themed game judging from the art alone. The genre alone rarely appears in today's gaming market and is fairly rare! I had some fun with the Alpha test the music was great, clean UI, the art is amazing, and the maps gradually became a lot harder over time. The game does have some resemblance to Girls Frontline with the cutesy characters and awesome artwork. You can evolve your characters in Arknights and their artwork would change into something super pretty as seen in my gameplay video below. They will also unlock some more passives or active skills upon evolution. There are three ways to earn characters in the game and that is through the story mode, Gacha, and the manufacturer or recruit mode. Most of my 5-star characters came from Gacha. The unit rarity didn't really matter much because the higher star units … [Read more...] about STEPARU News, Reviews, Previews & Information for Foreign Games Arknights Alpha Test Preview an Upcoming Anime TD Game
