It’s been a refrain in this edition of Choose My Adventure, but I still have to say it again: I have had a blast in The Elder Scrolls Online. I guess I’m repeating myself because I feel thankful to those who voted for this game for the past month. So, thanks! This week, I decided to dip in a little more in to the Rift, the region of the game where my current in-game house is parked. What I found was the expected variety of beautiful things to look at and a pretty impressive contrast between the game’s launch storylines and its more recent releases. For those who are unfamiliar, this area of the game was originally a level 38-43 zone. Naturally, the One Tamriel level smoothing adjustments made that irrelevant, meaning I could get on to the business of ignoring the Coldharbor primary quest line and exploring the area. This place is the precise kind of area I’d want to live in if I were able to live in a fantasy setting; a temperate forest near some more impressive … [Read more...] about Choose My Adventure: So long The Elder Scrolls Online, hello Legends of Aria

If you don't like spoilers, stop reading now! The Elder Scrolls Online datamining community has done it again and has ferreted out the next chapter in the game's story. Players will be heading to the Khajiit lands in Elsweyr and will find an all-new story and huge new enemies to take on: Dragons! In addition, players will have a new class to try out in the form of the Necromancer. According to datamined information, most of the content additions throughout 2019 will be focused on Elsweyr. From the Elder Scrolls wiki: Elsweyr (commonly pronounced "Else-where") is a region of the continent of Tamriel featured in the game series The Elder Scrolls. It is home to the Khajiit, a playable bestial and feline race in all of the main series of The Elder Scrolls so far. As of the events of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (4E 201) the province is separated into two nations, both of which are client states of the Aldmeri Dominion. Anequina to the … [Read more...] about Next Chapter of the Elder Scrolls Online Has Been Datamined (SPOILERS)
We’re sorry, fans of The Elder Scrolls Online who would like to play the game on the Nintendo Switch. As with many other games, the title is not coming to the Switch, and according to creative director Matt Firor it’s a simple matter of fitting seven pounds of flour in a five-pound bag. The game is just too large to fit onto the Switch, no matter how you slice it. You can still play Skyrim on your Switch, of course, as that game has now been ported to every platform aside from the Colecovision. (That port will happen next year.) Firor mentioned that the team had actually been interested in bringing TESO to the console, but the size limitation of 75 gigs was just too big for the portable hybrid console. A loss for fans of the platform, but considering the overall paucity of MMO offerings on the console, perhaps it’s not surprising. … [Read more...] about The Elder Scrolls Online is just too large to get to Nintendo Switch
Play Elder Scrolls OnlineEven though I don’t believe that Summerset was the best choice for the next expansion for the Elder Scrolls Online, that doesn’t mean that the chapter is without merit. According to ZeniMax Online Creative Director Rich Lambert, Summerset will be bigger and have more to do than Morrowind. It’s hard to believe that the actual island is bigger, but I do believe that there is much more playable area on Summerset than on Vvardenfell because it doesn’t have a giant volcano sitting in the middle of it taking up a lot of room. Because this island hasn’t been seen since Elder Scrolls: Arena, it’s hard to know what to expect from this land. We know that certain things exist, like the Crystal Tower and the home of the Psijic Order Artaeum, but we haven’t ever really seen some of these places in any games. Because I’m a lore buff, I’d like to take a few moments to talk about the first settlers of the Summerset Isles, … [Read more...] about Tamriel Infinium: Where did the Elder Scroll Online Summerset come from?
Over the last month I’ve been racking up the hours on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, but I know I haven’t been talking about it much. Quite simply, I’d always rather be playing the game than be writing about it. Certainly, I enjoy my time away from MMOs to be by myself and play games like this every once in a while. I think I’m up to between 100-150 hours in that game (for some reason Raptr doesn’t always seem to log my time on the Xbox correctly, even when I’m connected) and yesterday I finally earned my last achievement. Not counting Arcade games, Skyrim is the only title I have for the Xbox right now that I’ve managed to fully “complete”. I think that alone is testament to how much I enjoyed it; there have been many other opportunities in the past to hit that 1000/1000 mark, but no other game has ever given me the delight and motivation to do it the way Skyrim has. And yet, I’m still not done, judging by the dozen or so … [Read more...] about True Nord – Thoughts On The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
