Skyforge developers will be introducing the new Honor stat into the game when the Gods at War patch hits the servers. The new stat should give PvP players an edge over their PvE-geared opponents. “We want to let players feel the impact of their PvP activities without diminishing their PvE accomplishments. The old scaling system did not work: high-level players came out on top in PvP too often because of various bonuses. We decided to even the odds and added a special stat which would give an advantage in combat to active PvP players only.” The Honor stat will grant health and damage bonuses during PvP and can be added using a special modifier obtained by participating in PvP matches. The bonuses will be capped at 35% for health and 20% for damage. Honor cap, however, will increase every season which should encourage players to acquire and use relevant gear. Producer Volker Boenigk and Game Director Dmitry Lisichkin talk about these changes in the video below. You can also … [Read more...] about Skyforge Sheds Light On The New PvP Honor Stat

Play LOTRO for freeLet us travel back to 2009, when Lord of the Rings Online released its second expansion pack, Siege of Mirkwood. This pint-sized expansion seemed underwhelming with its options (although it did give us one of my favorite zones in the game), especially after the grandeur that was Moria. However, Mirkwood did factor in a new feature that made a pretty big splash with players: skirmishes. Skirmishes were a new type of instanced content that could be scaled in both difficulty and group size, both of which felt revolutionary at the time. They threw players into either an offensive or defensive quest, challenging the group to conquer piles of foes and continue to press onward by claiming flags, defending areas, and defeating optional side objectives. To make matters even more interesting, players got to bring along a soldier companion to assist, and this soldier could be modified and trained to become more effective. People, by and large, really liked this system, but for … [Read more...] about LOTRO Legendarium: Are the new seasonal instances a win or a whimper?

It’s been quite a ride for Wild West Online, the survivalish MMO that came out of nowhere last spring to take on Red Dead Redemption 2. The game was originally planned to launch in the fall, but it hobbled to an early access launch well behind schedule instead, weathering drama around its relationship to The War Z’s studio, the slow rollout of female toons, and a complete do-over on its planned open PvP gankbox mechanics (the game is now a faction-based setting – cue the anguished howls of early backers). But the game formally launches on Steam today boasting that faction-based territorial PvP, solo and group play, PvE questing, and homesteading, with a promise of an evolving world in the future. “To create an even further gripping experience, the development team will continue building out the larger world and integrating new content to create the best experience for players. This includes having Wild West Online’s world age through the years. When … [Read more...] about The Wild West Online MMO officially launches out of early access today – here’s the new trailer
