On the flip side, both of the trial fights required at least 4 wipes before my teams were able to get them down. Compared to the first time through, folks seem to be having a bit more trouble with mechanics and DPS checks. I was hoping at this point that we’d be getting people who were familiar with the fights, but both times, half or more of the team were new to the trial. I’m not sure how that bodes for the final battle, but I’m not going to worry about it too much at this point. … [Read more...] about FFXIV: Shadowbringers – Second Time Through MSQ
The second time
My little warrior Bobbinn, had been sitting there inactive and acting as a banker for some time. As a result her gear was in a completely horrendous state, so I knew that I would have to regear the character from the ground up. For this reason, I almost considered shifting focus to pushing up my rogue, Gloam since he was at least fully outfitted in heirloom gear. In fact I had started to run him through Blackrock Depths for gear, but in the process of doing so a sign from the random loot generator gods appeared. Not bad for a game about stompy mechs and base building! … [Read more...] about Pantropy’s second Kickstarter successfully funds and hits five stretch goals along the way
However, I’m a multiplayer guy. It’s very difficult to get me into a shooter on my own, especially one that looks a little dated, and I say that as someone who played the heck out of the original Darkfall. I play them with friends, and it’s why I was never able to get into the original Defiance. I did like how the boss encounter had a kind of “puzzle” that felt MMOy: the “hit the minion just right without killing it so it makes the boss vulnerable to your attacks” thing. My handlers tossed out several strategies, and I combined them with my own to kill the boss, so it was nice to see some flexibility in the system. … [Read more...] about E3 2018: A second look at Trion’s Defiance 2050 reboot
The idea of playing multiple MMOs as once is appealing to me. I certainly juggle lots of non-MMOs. In the past 6 months I think I was juggling 4 or 5 big games. Some nights I felt like playing Skyrim. Others I felt like playing Kingdom Hearts. Switching between non-MMOs is easy for me. … [Read more...] about Can You Play More Than One MMORPG at a Time?
