In my earlier story, I shared about how my blog started getting 150K visitors a month, and if you have missed that story; you can start here. For the late comers, My name is Surkhab, I am a food blogger at Evergreen Recipes and this is the second part of my post about my blogging journey. ShoutMeLoud was started at the end of 2008, so I have been blogging professionally for almost 4 1/2 years. During this period I have created many other blogs in an effort to bring new challenges into my life. I was 22 when I chose to become a professional blogger. I’m going to be 27 this year, and for the first time in the past 4 1/2 years I have finally taken a much-needed extended break. Initially I had no idea how this break would impact me, but now that I’m back to my usual spirit of blogging I will be sharing that impact with you so that you can see how I spent the past couple of weeks and why this unscheduled break was important to me. Do you have multiple Facebook profile and a Facebook page for personal branding? Are you tired of managing all of them? This used to be my story as I had two Facebook profile, and one personal page. For long I wanted to consolidate everything so that I have to spend less time on managing all the Facebook properties. When I started online in 2008, I had one Facebook profile for friends & family, and in 2009 I created a new profile to connect with fellow bloggers and for networking. From last one year, I wanted to close down one of my Facebook profile and wanted to manage just one profile and one Facebook page. Now the problem was, it was a tough call to close any one of them, because It would lead to losing years of connections and over 3000+ subscribers. Couple of days back, I finally decided to take the call and merge one … [Read more...] about How I consolidated my Facebook Identity by Merging Profile Into Page

But, just the visits are not enough to measure the growth, as the traffic has to be targeted. Therefore, to increase the targeted traffic to my blog, I have burned the midnight oil in past 48 days. There are various ways by which one can drive traffic to their blog, and I’m a firm believer of growth hacking. With growth hacking, one can use existing content and start getting more traffic to their blog. Many of you might be aware of the fact that my blog was hit by Google Panda algorithm in 2011, and this was the time when I realized the importance of SEO. I spent months on learning SEO and practicing it to recover from Google Panda (For new readers, you can read all about my recovery process over here). Panda recovery was a big relief as for once I almost lost faith and thought my blogging career is over. During my … [Read more...] about How I Increased My WordPress Blog Traffic By 28% in 48 Days
Blogging is one of the most powerful modern marketing medium out there. The only problem is — you cannot expect overnight success. Why? Because it’s a marathon and not just a sprint! So, always go term! “I’ve worked in marketing since 1987 and nothing I have used, studied or witnessed, comes close to the marketing power of an effective blog. Period.” — Jim Connolly When I compiled the blog marketing resources I mentioned that I do not have a blog promotion strategy.
