What are the top 5 most overused Asian MMORPG tropes? 5. Gender Locking Classes Popular games like BDO and TERA gender lock their classes, and one wonders why this exists in the first place. If MMORPGs have a fun class and make it female only, the chances of cash shop costume sales could be pretty high. And the age old argument is probably valid, being that if the core gameplay is fun, who cares about gender locks? But there are folks out there that prefer playing what they want, over what they’re forced to. If someone wants to roll a Male Dark Knight on BDO or anything other than a female Elin on TERA, they can’t and that’s one Asian MMORPG Trope that annoys a lot of people. 4. “Fortnite is now the largest free-to-play console game of all time, in revenue generated and monthly active users,” SuperData has declared in its monthly revenue report for the gaming industry for March 2018. The game sits at the tippy-top of the console listing and has now breezed past both PUBG and World of Warcraft to sit at #5 on PC. “Fortnite had quite a March. The game has overtaken the previous ‘king of battle royale,’ PUBG, in terms of revenue generated and monthly active users across all platforms. It also hit the #1 spot by revenue on iOS in the United States in its launch month, and has the highest conversion rate of any free-to-play PC game in March. So all the way back in May of 2017, I made a video titled “The Best Free To Play Anime MMORPGs To Play RIGHT NOW In 2017!”. It has since gone on to gain almost 800,000 views, thousands of comments, and thousands of likes. Over the course of the year my likes and dislikes in terms of MMORPGs have changed quite drastically. I recall listing games like Maplestory, Eden Eternal and Twin Saga as Anime MMORPGs I thoroughly enjoyed, when in reality I believe those games no longer hold any semblance of relevancy.
