Right now we are in a strange place in MMORPG history. Following the backlash of WoW clones and several high-profile titles that underperformed, major studios are becoming extremely risk-averse to creating big-budget titles the way that we saw not five years ago. Many former MMO teams are diversifying with shooters, MOBAs, and other safer and trendier titles. Yet all is not lost! MMO features continue to ripple out into all types of game genres and new titles continue to be produced — just not from the usual suspects. Instead, most of what is on our immediate horizon comes from either crowdfunded indie teams or eastern giants. The good news is that 2017 should see the culmination of many of these long-brewing projects and adaptations, hopefully resulting in a bumper crop of interesting online RPGs for us to play. So let’s run down the list of games that either are or possibly could be coming to you in 2017. We will provide an overview of each title, why you should care … [Read more...] about Perfect Ten: All the MMORPGs coming in 2017

Last week, we introduced the first part of our guide to the best upcoming, in-development indie MMORPGs — yes, the list was so long that we had to split it lest our CMS explode! So this week we’re back with the other half of our list, a quick and dirty guide to many of the indie MMORPGs in development and some of the key points about each. Hint: We’re not asking whether they are a sandbox with open world PvP because of course they are. As a side note, we won’t be covering most of the survival sandbox and mere multiplayer titles, as that would be too great for the scope of this guide. And if you’re interested in these games, then you’ll definitely want to track our Make My MMO and Betawatch columns. On with part two! The brainchild of ex-SOE CEO John Smedley, Hero’s Song is a mash-up of MMO, action RPGs, and customizable worlds that are influenced by which gods are selected to influence them. Pixel art and a 2-D isometric … [Read more...] about Massively OP’s guide to the best upcoming indie MMORPGs, part two

If you aren't familiar with this kind of brief update yet, please have a look this introductory post. Ready? Enjoy! Human Body & Equipment The human character has been further improved! We have reworked the standard rig of the model, dramatically improving the quality of the animations. Plus, we've polished the texturing of the naked body and that of some of its armor sets. KOG Games prepared a lengthy tutorial gameplay for their upcoming Anime Action Game KurtzPel showing off four different weapons. Players can swap and equip two of the four following weapons, a Bow called Dance of Wind, the Great Sword of Talaimh, the Staff of a Diabolic Witch, and a Dual Soul Swords. Even though the trailer is in another language, you should be able to grasp and get a feel for the combat basics, movement, combos, juggles, skill system, weapon system, etc. The combat does look exciting since you're going to be alternating between various weapons and different skill sets. You can also perform different combos with left and right click depending on the weapon used. Air combos seems to be one of the strongest point of this game, so I do hope they work on that more. Air juggles are always fun in fighting games, as long as their balance and no infinite combos, lol. A friend of mine recently translated the KurtzPel interview here are some snippets from the article, … [Read more...] about STEPARU News, Reviews, Previews & Information for Foreign Games KurtzPel Tutorial Combat Basics and Weapons Shown in Latest Teaser
So all the way back in May of 2017, I made a video titled “The Best Free To Play Anime MMORPGs To Play RIGHT NOW In 2017!”. It has since gone on to gain almost 800,000 views, thousands of comments, and thousands of likes. Over the course of the year my likes and dislikes in terms of MMORPGs have changed quite drastically. I recall listing games like Maplestory, Eden Eternal and Twin Saga as Anime MMORPGs I thoroughly enjoyed, when in reality I believe those games no longer hold any semblance of relevancy. Stix did do a video on upcoming Anime MMORPGs just last month titled “4 Upcoming Anime MMORPGs You Absolutely NEED To Play In 2018 And Beyond!” if you’re interested in a few Anime titles to look forward to as well. Now, regarding what I believe should be listed.. Alright, so starting off at number 10 is Bless Online. Graphically speaking, Bless Online looks great. It does. There’s no denying that. It has giant beautiful open world landscapes, … [Read more...] about The Best Free To Play Anime MMORPGs To Play RIGHT NOW In 2018!
